Spike TV announced today that the upcoming second annual Video Games Awards (VGA) will be hosted by none other than Snoop Dogg. The show will be aired live from 9:00 to 11:00 pm, EST on Tuesday, December 14th.

All ready a hip-hop icon, Snoop is rapidly becoming the top celebrity in gaming as well. Beyond contributing popular tracks to the soundtracks of NBA Live 2003 and Gran Turismo 3, he starred as an unlockable character in True Crime: Streets of LA and will be a featured character in the just gone gold Def Jam: Fight for NY.

An official VGA Advisory Board of gaming industry experts and media will be appointed later this month with the official list of categories and nominees to follow. We'll bring you the full list as soon as it's announced.

For some reason I'm thinking Pikmin 2 won't get much of a mention at this event. Also I wonder who the "gaming industry experts" are, Tommy T. anyone? -_-

And even though GTA SA, Halo 2, MGS3, MP2 etc. will be out by then, the nominees and winners will consist of Madden 2005, Def Jam Vendetta, Tony Hawk Underground 2, and WWE SD vs Raw.

Shit, show me a list of the categories and I'll probably give you a 90% accurate prediction on who the winners will be based on those 5 games.

Why don't they just give all the awards to Madden now and not waste the expense of doing a whole show about it?

Man, last year's awards were great. Did anyone watch that banner during the preshow and count all the typos?
"Zelda: The Wind Walker"
"SOCAM 2"
"Halo" (Combat Evolved, anyone?)

Remember, though, the awards were all voted on by people who went to their website. It's hardly a legitimate voting decision.

I find that if you just ignore this shit it goes away.

In other news I was amused that there was a new best videogame soundtrack at the MTV VMAs this year. Tony Hawk went up there to accept the award like he had anything to do with the soundtrack. I wonder if John Madden would've went up there if Madden would've won...

Well it's that time of the year again: for porn star Jenna Jamison to reconnect with the gaming world.

I was hoping with all my being someone would walk up to her and smash a bat on her when she said that line about action.

I just don't understand, with events like this, why people don't take video games seriously... ;)

As if the "legit" gaming media is any better...

BTW, the TBS award show from a decade ago is still the worst piece of gaming related shit I've ever seen.
