How am I being an ass? Why would I leave impressions which might be mistaken for mine? I'm the one posting the thread after all.
I have already sworn that when I buy a house in a few years it will have to have some form of theater setup. nothing really special or particularly expensive, just a small dedicated room for NFL football and animu watching. Wont that be an interesting mix?
Come on.. it wouldn't be a BONES show if it wasn't confusing as fuck at first.
The very idea that the anime industry would adapt to new technological and social media consumption norms was laughable a few years ago man!

Despite the uguu-ness of the designs(although KyoAni's versions are undoubtedly improved over the originals), the animation and art direction in the KyoAni shows is top-notch. Angel Beats is ruined by some of the worst digital composition of all time.

To be fair, it's not really "shounen" in the way my tag refers to shounen. It's a dumb/amusing gag spin-off.

Ok so some characters look decently cute.
Ok really cute. But most of them are that stupid moe uguu cg looking shit.
I mean like the setting and everything look great, but the character designs are awful.
It's certainly no SHAFT chocolates
Coincidentally, both of those consumables are a deep, dark brown color.

I could deal with the fanservice, but the humour in this is out of place and even insulting when you consider the subject matter they've been selling these characters on for a while. It cheapened the climax of the episode for me, and instead of it feeling dramatic it was completely over-the-top.
So, so stupid. Thank God the rest of the show is superbly done.
Oh my fucking God this singer is awful. This is the only OP I skip this season. I don't even do that for the Japanese dubstep in Polar Bear Café.

I couldn't enjoy the first episode because of all the exposition. Like, isn't this all stuff you should be explaining after Ao gets involved into the vortex and not before? Why should I care about any of the background if I don't have any emotional investment on any of the characters yet? It's bad writing.

Nor do I. Angel Beats looks pretty high-budget, really, for the kind of show it is. There's absolutely nothing wrong with those screenshots. Those three shots look pretty good, really.

I don't. Its ok. Not my favorite but not unlistenable.
I don't know about that, but it certainly isn't what you'd typically think of as awful visuals. It looks polished and pretty and colorful to me. That was one of the reasons I liked it in the first place! I will admit that in some cases it can be awful, like the screen that Branduil likes to spam, but otherwise its nice to look at, and I enjoy it.

Yeah, polished, that's what I mean -- it has a very polished, slick look, worlds above the earlier Key animes (Kanon 2002, Air), and it's got a substantial amount of action in it too, unlike any previous Key anime, and they did a good job with it. Having action like that's got to increase the art budget versus something like Kanon...
Of course Kanon 2006 was slickly done, but it doesn't have action; Angel Beats is just as good looking otherwise, but has stuff like the action scenes too. That's not why I think it's a better show -- having action doesn't make something better by default, for sure -- but I do like the AB has a mixture of styles (action, drama, comedy) and does them all pretty well. That clearly cost money.

Eh, I should have that much in a month or two. Or I could borrow heavily from my parents I guess, get them to cut in on half of it

I actually enjoyed almost all of Idolmaster, so I'm not sure what you're referring to here.
I agree with you on that front. I mean, as a story, its stupid as fuck, and like I said, Haibane Renmei on acid, but overall I honestly did find it enjoyable to watch and thats not being ironic or contrarian. I just really did like it. Its stupid fun, and lord knows we discuss those kinds of shows enough here, so I don't see why this is any different. It makes more sense than Yami does. Although that's not saying much because everything makes more sense than Yami does.

I can understand someone being a little put off if they haven't seen the first Saki.
The Achiga-hen first ep is this really fast setup story to get things rolling; it's probably not as interesting as a stand-alone episode as the original Saki's first episode was.
As someone who watched and liked Saki, though, I'm OK with it, as background info for the real story.

Angel's Beat probably had a HUGE budget. The marketing machine behind it was really big too.
But see, taking such an absurd position as "Angel Beats is better than Eureka 7" and "AnimeGaf is biased" only serves to prejudice everyone against your argument. Even if there are people who might agree with some of your arguments, seeing that will only inspire rage and move them to the other side. It doesn't help that Angel Beats is really bad too.
angel beats is colourful in the sense that someone shoved a bunch of brightly coloured macaroons into their mouth, munched on them and then proceeded to throw up on a pane of glass superimposed on an awful looking cg background.
