Spuds are taking over.

I'm not taking that from a Yank.

Even if some of our dishes are bland (and no, many aren't), at least we use real, natural ingredients.

I said in another post later on that yes, the quality of food is definitely better here than in the US. But I can't think of anything (outside of a curry, or perhaps I guess a fish and chips) in this country that I felt tasted better than the equivalent in the US.

But the holy grail of drunk food, Donner Kebabs don't really exist in the US -- so you guys definitely win that round.

I can't possibly match against a potato, you got me I'm desperately beaten

Who the fuck would travel to get a baked potato?
It's definitely a thing these days thanks to the power of social media .

There's a joint in Jersey called Flavor Hive, which frequently gets customers who've travelled for hours to get some of their halal meat and sauce. 😆
And it's all because their promo videos went viral on TikTok.

I wouldn't even step into a shop I was walking past to get halal meat.

What do think the US is using? Synthetic Cow? I make my own jelly and can peaches and use real food. Do they have peaches in England?

I will say our Processed food like snack cakes and fast food our pretty horrible.

There's at least a half dozen places I can get Donner kebab here in Seattle,. Well they I know of, so probably a lot more.

I'm an US born expat living in the UK and I confirm the food here is mostly terrible. There are some notable exceptions -- but for the most part, yeah it's grim.
I'm honestly surprised by that. I would say it's possible that we're going to different places, but having been to the USA a number of times, I wonder if you'd be willing list, say 5 meals that you can get in the USA that you miss in the UK?

I would eat those every day if they sold them here like that

Minus the beans. I don't know why they need beans
Beans are to British people as rice is to Asians. They can't get enough of that shit.

Faggots are pork meat balls made from ofal, such as pigs heart or liver, mixed with bacon and served with gravey. I have mine with mashed spuds and green beans. Best to order them from a butcher. Store bought ones are tasteless.
 I was more comfortable with the idea of you eating people.

Oh cool -- I lived / grew up on the east coast, and short of perhaps going into NYC I can't think of anywhere. I kinda exclude NYC from my opinion since you can get basically authentic anything there. It's not really the 'standard' unless you live there.

I'll be honest -- i was being a bit hyperbolic. Nothing I've really had here in the UK is terrible. But in terms of better - I've had better Italian food (like a real good chicken parm with vodka sauce) -- the pizza is so much better (but that's also a NY area thing) -- the bagels / breakfast sandwiches are better (again, more of NY Area thing)- the Mexican food is better (it just seems to be non-existent in this country best I can tell), and, then subs -- I'm sorry, everyone in the UK seems to love Subway which is gross. That's the one I'll put my foot down on for sure. Subway is terrible, and I've not found a proper sub shop near me anywhere.

I won't lie, just about every dish in that first video looks absolutely disgusting. I don't know what your Brits are on, but dear lord, come try some real food in America.

Yeah that's the interesting thing about the US, hard to talk about it accurately as a whole as regionally things are so different. (we have great curry and lots of great fish and chips to, although not trying to say ours is better than the UK I wouldn't know.)

Peoples experience can be so different.' While I get why you might ignore NYC, 10s of millions of Americans live inside or close to it lol

I make those almost every Saturday, so go with chili and cheese it is a bowl of ultimate comfort food
Big-ass hefty potato, thick chilli con carne, sharp cheddar, green onions. Sometimes homemade bacon bits and sour cream are alright. But keeping it simple is the way to go and you're absolutely right. It's a one and done comfort food, for sure.

Yeah, if I'm baking them for myself I will just use cheddar, chives and a bit of dairy. Despite these videos the normal way of eating them in the UK is just with some good salted butter. Baked beans I would rather have with toast or on the side.
