A SSB:M bundle with only ONE CONTROLLER!? What were they thinking!? Even the MK:DD bundle had two IIRC

There were two versions of the bundle. One with one controller, and one with two. I don't know why.

SSBM (and MKDD) should finally drop to $19.99 when the bundle arrives.

They should...but will it? (I've been looking to pick up MKDD for the LONGEST TIME, but I don't want to pay $60 for it.

I think, at least initially, stores with lots of shelf space (Best Buy/Target) were given the extra controller bundle, whereas smaller stores with less space (EBgames/Gamestop) were given the $15 coupon, since the size of the box remained the same...

I know later the extra controller bundles were running low and Best Buy started receiving the coupon bundles, but that was closer to Christmas, like the week before I think...

One had a $15 gift check you could use towards another game rather than a second controller.

How odd.. in the post-Christmas through Resident Evil 4 timeframe, GameStops started getting double-controller bundles for the first time.

I wasn'y very impressed when I got my gamecube and Smash bros. I played it here and there and then moved on to other games. Last week, a friend came over and put smash bros in and we played it for a bit... say 14 hours!

The game is awesome. I can't believe the game has aged so well, it looks just as good as any modern 1st party game from Nintendo. The attention to detail, the enormous amount of characters/moves/modes/stages/stats and all the small little things like being able to play in the mushroom kingdom as non mario characters is just amazing. I really love this game. I can't wait to play part 3 online.

I love the way each character animates so differently, holds weapons differently, etc. The attention to detail is amazing. Even characters that could have just used similar animations (i.e. mario and Luigi or Pikachu and Pichu) have there own ways of moving that express their characters. SSB:M is just as fun to watch as is it to play. I hope this bundle exposes a few more people to it.

Yes, it's a brilliant game. But I doubt this one move is going to spur massive amounts of people into buying the GC. All the other bundles Nintendo has tried have not worked over the long term, so why should this one? You can buy SSBM and a GC for $90 right now, and that hasn't helped the GC this year once.

Nintendo never kept bundles past Christmas.

As a lot of you said, the sheer amount of detail is unbelievable. I loved the Adventure mode(for the first 3 times), but the events were amazing. The game has so much going for it. Tons of multiplayer modes, single player modes, things to collect, minigames, it has it all. My friends still play this game for hours.

I remember reading an article mentioning how Nintendo basically told Masahiro Sakurai (creator of Kirby and Smash Brothers) that he had to come out with the game, but he was still working on putting more and more detail into the game. I think they mentioned that's part of the reason why he left Hal and Nintendo.

multi player just about nothing beats it, I can't wait to see this online.

Absolutely brilliant game. Multiplayer was amazing and the game was gorgeous in its own right. Even though it may seem late, this is probably a great time to release this bundle. Anticipation for Twilight Princess is rising and I am pretty sure this game is going to attract anybody who is on the fence regarding a gamecube. Still, they could have done it earlier.

You guys ever notice that DK's tie has collision detection? Go to his stage with the logs and the waterfall, it'll actually slide along the logs and slip inbetween individual logs! Insane!

Target used to have a Smash Brothers bundle at one point for the holiday season, but I think it was back in '03 (or even '02)...

Had Tekken Tag sold over 20 thou copies in May like smash bros did, maybe they would! :)

Seriously, a great game with great sales legs. I'm glad they're waiting until the new system for a sequel.

I can only imagine how much a SSB:M/GCN bundle would've helped this past holiday season, or the season before the 99.99 price cut.

well, neither this past nor the previous holiday season could have gone much better for Nintendo...

they stood practically toe-to-toe with the competition in December, and GCN's were hard to come by two Christmas in a row...

the problem is Nintendo had trouble stocking GCN's during 2003 and in 2004 the Mario Kart bundle took off too late (and honestly came too late in the season, should have been released in October)...
