Prohobitionists - stay the fuck out of this one.

I started taking St. John's Wort yesterday, and I've only had 5 doses so far. Which drug interactions are potentially dangerous? St. John's Wort apparently has some MAOI characteristics, but they're also said to be weak. I'm mainly interested in what the interaction could be if I use cocaine tonight.

And is boozing a bad idea while on SJW?

So funny. Um yeah SJW can have some pretty heavy drug interactions. Just google it and read.
You are not supposed to mix it with other anti-depressants, MOA inhibitors, etc...

Mixing it with stimulants can be dangerous too. But I've never had any one ask about withing it with Cocaine or Speed. But there are probably people that have mixed it with ephredine, which has similar properties.

I wonder too how heavy the interactions would be due to you just starting to use it.

I bought it since you said it helped with your social anxiety. I'm actually a bit less anxious tonight than last night, but I guess it'll take more time to see its full effects.

This is the first thing I came across when I did a search on St. John's Wort.

St. Johns' Wort (Hypericum perforatum) is a common wild plant that grows in much of Europe and North America. If it grows near you, or if you plant this perennial plant in your garden, you can easily make your own medicinal tincture, for a fraction of the cost of store-bought St. Johns' Wort tincture.

First, get yourself a good plant identification book, and make sure you're finding real St. Johns' Wort. I recommend any book written by Michael Moore--his books are a wealth of information about herbal medicine. Or get a knowledgeable "plant person" to show you. Once you see it, you'll always be able to recognize it. To be sure you're looking at the real thing, hold one of the tiny leaves up to the light. If it's St. Johns' Wort, the leaf will appear to be covered with teeny little holes you can see light through. Remember that scientific name: Hypericum perforatum. That refers to those little pinprick windows in the leaves.

Dude, isn't it kinda oxymoronic to worry about drug complications from St. John's Wort, but then your going to go out an snort some coke? Isn't this the equivalent of ordering a Big Mac value meal and getting a Diet Pepsi? :lol

But yeah...it does seem a little crazy.

To anyone who has used St. John's Wort, what brands and what dosages would you suggest? I figure I might try it sometime to see if it helps me at all.

I started taking it a while ago then stoped a week later. It made me "regular". Jobber always abnormal. It's my gimmick, BUT so you won't feel alone, I'll start again tonight. I'm taking generic 300mg pills. I took it with Valerian and boy let me tell you.....didn't feel anything.

i was taking it for a few months, and i started running low so i took a third less and after a week, i've noticed the effects. The standard day-to-day shit affects me more than it used to, and i simply don't feel good like i used to so i'll be getting more ASAP. i've written a little more about the magcal powers of The Wort, just do a username search for me with "wort" in yhe post.

i've mixed it with alcohol frequently with no problem. i've also done the same with melatonin, and i notice i sleep an hour or two longer with a noticeable drowsiness feeling roughly 20 minutes after taking the melatonin capsule.

Well, looks like I'm still here. It was a fun night overall, but if anything, I would discourage smoking pot while on SJW. It was waaaay too intense.
