STAN possibly Eminem's greatest song?

This is a work by a genius

The whole stan video, reading the lyrics today i realised he will never be able to do anything surpass stan if ever.

Most musicians write one song that stands above the rest in their lifetime.

I once thought stan, then thought the real slim shady, then thought superman, then thought sing for the moment.

Guilty Conscience and Role Model are probably my two favourite Em tracks.

We have a winner.
Drug Ballad is underated, and Just don't give a fuck gets no props at all

If you see me on your block
with 2 glocks
screaming fuck the world like 2 pac
I just don't give a fuck

I honestly cant choose. I love too much of it. However, I like his "hard" and serious stuff alot more then the jokey comical tracks like Without Me, The Real Slim Shady. although My Name Is is an exception as its one of my favorites.

The Slim Shady LP >>>>>> The Marshall Mathers LP > The Eminem Show > Infinite.

That being said, my favorite track of his is "Never 2 Far" from Infinite. "Brain Damage" and "Drug Ballad" are honorable mentions.

"Role Model" still stands up today Eminem's perfect mix of comedy, social insight, self-awareness and deprecation all in one. Plus it's the lone track that caused me to nearly kill myself driving off the road from laughter. How can you not love lyrics like

Every girl I ever went out wit is goin lez
Follow me and do exactly what the song says:
smoke weed, take pills, drop outta school, kill people and drink
And jump behind the wheel like it was still legal

I got genital warts and it burns when I pee
Don't you wanna grow up to be just like me!
I tie a rope around my penis and jump from a tree
You probably wanna grow up to be just like me!!!

"Stan" just seems a little too forced, and the pop-friendly Dido hook didn't help his cause at all.

some of my fav's from him are:

the way i am
tonight (off of infinite)
rock bottom
who knew
criminal
lose yourself
8 mile road
superman
white america
kids

but i have to agree...my fav track of his is stan. its a perfect work of art and the 3rd verse where stan is about to drive off...there is so much emotion in his voice it sends chills down my spine.

but listen to any of those above listed tracks and u will see why he is mighty talented.

Stan is up there, but I'll always love The Way I Am. Never have I heard raw anger expressed so well.

First time hearing the second verse of My Dad's Gone Crazy, especially dealing with a good-for-nothing know-it-all mother at the time, had me in hysterics. It'll always have a place in my heart for helping me deal.

yeah The Way I Am is just pure anger at the whole industry and its awesome. it was the product of the rec company forcing him to make the real slim shady.

anyway i forgot one song..."Hailies Song"...he only has one verse after his horrid singing but man its powerful. listen to it...another one of those "damn" lyrical display.

A girl in our circle of friends used to put stan on at every party, and get all weepy, then 10 minutes later she would play it again.

I hate that song.

"Role Model" has been my favorite ever since I first listened to The Slim Shady LP, and I don't think he's topped that song in the time since then. "Drug Ballad" and "Criminal" come pretty close though.

Ha, so true...that and Nail in the Coffin were just amazing for a couple of off shoot battle tracks.

:lol Role Model is also the catchiest Em tune I've heard to date. It's the perfect fucked up track. Sadly I bet some people would listen to it and think he was being seriously. :lol

I did like Stan though...as a couple others said, that third verse was extremely well delivered.

Eminem rocks, his albums seem to get better and better. The Eminem Show is probably my favorite album of his.

I love all his singles for the most part ('cept for maybe Sing For The Moment) and I would have to say either "Stan" or "My Name Is"
