I'm all about game feel over anything and Star Fox feels amazing in the hands. The controls are relatively simple but the Arwing is super mobile, you can really move around in a satisfying way to rack up scores. Then when it comes to shooting at appropriate times to rack up high scores, it can be very addictive. The game is deceptively longer than people make I out to be as well. Trying to see every planet and getting their medals will take some time.
Beyond that the presentation for the original game was oddly cinematic for a Nintendo game, especially back then. Now they've upped the presentation values 40 fold and the story looks even more compelling than it was before. I can see clear character arcs already which weren't particularly preset before as well as straight up drama. For the most part, in the original, characters spoke 1 liners at each other, in this they are clearly talking to one another.
I know you are on this journey to enjoy Nintendo franchises and I think this one just might hit the right notes for you.
