The remastered main film transfer was great, and the audio was superb in DD 5.1 sound. Even the front-end interface was nice as it was modeled after the Borg-battle introduction. I checked out like half of Disc 2's goodies, and the background and production work that went into making First Contact was insightful and interesting.
The "From 'A to E'" segment was cool as it explained the design work of the Enterprise-E, the designs of the Federation starships used in the Borg-battle intro., and the design of the Vulcan survey ship seen in the finale and closing scenes.
The "Story" segment chronicled the drafts of how they took the approach of First Contact compared to Generations. It was a pure fun and a thrill-ride this time around, and was easier to make than Generations. Plus, the approach on how they made First Contact appeal to a broader, wider audience was explained.
A sweet DVD edition for all you completist Star Trek fans out there. If you have the bare-bones DVD edition of First Contact, you may want to trade-up or invest in this one (hey, it's pretty cheap) and gain thumbs-up insight on this fab production.
Bring on Special Editions of Insurrection and Nemesis!
