Maverick4101 writes in and tells us that the latest PC Gamer reveals that Battlefront 2 is in development.

It will have space battles (Including Ep3’s space battle) where you can board, sabotage, and take control of certain parts of the cruiser class ships. Jedi will also be implemented although not a class in every map. The game will also be more objective driven compared to capturing outposts like the first battlefront.

Nice. Hopefully they do an Xbox 360 version to go along with Imperial Commando.

There is an insane amount of potential in this game, I can’t wait.

Hopefully instead of trying to be “true to the movies” they make a more balanced game.

Also just imagine how cool a level based on the start of Episode IV would be.

The rebel forces would have to defend blockade runner for long enough for a droids to escape (15 minutes etc..) while the Imperial forces have to take three check points to capture the freighter. The check points must be captured in order.

Playing the bit where the door gets blasted open would be so intense.

The PC Gamer article hints at doing the Geonosis Arena with up to 30 Jedi on screen at once.

Ok more details from PC Gamer:

- 16 new battles.
- The Tantive IV Blockade Runner from Episode IV is one map. Light side objective is to escort Leia and the droids to escape pods.
- A select few of the developers have seen Episode III due to the focus on that movie with some of the new battles.
- The Battle of Coruscant is one of the space battles in the game.
- Dogfighting is more like Rogue Squadron than X-Wing/TIE Fighter.
- Jedi are on select maps for both light side and dark side.
- It uses the same engine from the first game but with upgraded character models, textures, and netcode.

The original game is really fun online when it's not lagging. It showed enough promise that I'm really excited for this sequel after hearing about these new features. Space battles and boarding enemy cruiser should kick ass.

They patched it about two months ago. It's much better now.

Conceptually the game rocks. In motion, well - you can't hit shit lol.

I had a lot of fun with this one, I was able to get enough minimal lag games to make playing it more enjoyable than annoying. Are they ever going to implement 24-player games?

The original Battlefront actually can support 32 player games over LIVE as of right now.

They patched the game up. The netcode has improved. Rent it.

Regardless of the patch, the game still needs at least a dozen official severs running before I touch it ever again.
