status of IO Interactive Bond game post-Amazon takeover

anyone heard any update on this game, esp in past 2 weeks? I'm worried about the upcoming IO Interactive bond game given Amazon now has full creative control of the ip/franchise, esp considering Amazon has its own gaming industry aspirations. Hoping it doesn't suffer same fate as star wars 1313.

Originally the main villain was some bald bastard named Beff Jezos, but they've been receiving some pressure to make changes.

They don't really have much at the moment. Plus they already control the IP, so I doubt they care much

The Amazon takeover would not negate any existing deals.
Barbara Broccoli and Michael Wilson had existing deals to develop/produce additional Bond movies. Amazon presented enough money to change that deal. Licensing deals like this have multiple milestones set up and at all of them the party licensing out the IP has the option to terminate it. Obviously the farther along you get, the less it makes sense to do that, but Amazon can - at any point - say "not feeling it. We're out. Give us the asset. here's the breakup fee. Bye"

Has it even been officially announced?
Kind of, it's on their site. They've been recruiting for it for a while now.

ihavezippers ihavezippers Amazon has owned the IP since they bought MGM in 2021. They could have cancelled it if they wanted to, but have not(smart choice). All that happened last week is Amazon paid the current producers and individuals in charge of the IP to give up that power and stewardship over Bond on screen. All this means is Amazon now can decide when/who/where in terms of Bond on screen

We only know they're working on a game based on this license and it'll be their take at their own version of young Bond. Beside that nah, there wasn't any official reveal whatsoever. It's probably far along though as they announced it like 4-5 years ago

Amazon has no control over the licenses (this IO Interactive Bond game) that had been handed out already by the previous IP holders. And since the game is funded and published by IOI themselves, it is far from potentially turning into a 1313 scenario, in which the Disney-owned LucasArts was both the developer, publisher and IP holder of the game.

The game should be shown in the coming months, since it began development over four years ago.

What I want is a IOI made sequel to the N64 Mission Impossible game

But I guess this will be close enough, maybe

This project is only 2nd to Metroid Prime 4 being stuck in development hell, to this day there hasn't been a great Bond game since Bloodstone (2011)

They continue cooking the game. In theory IOI got the licenseand as long as they pay the IP holder the agreed royalties everything would be fine.

I assume Amazon is mostly interested on the James Bond movies and books rights and that games are going to be pretty secondary for this. IOI are very talented and the best fit for this IP in gaming, so it wouldn't make sense to stop this game. In fact pretty likely will ask them to do more 007 games after this one.
