You joke but if there was a "spend a day in Dublin with Saoirse simulator" you'd not only buy a copy of the deluxe edition but you'd buy an Oculus Rift just for the occasion!

:p

And just think: there could be a ton of other releases set in different locations. It'd be the ultimate region-specific series. :p

I'm not going to bed tonight until I get a character on Gilgamesh. I wanna play with Seven. Gilgamesh or bust.

I just made a character on Gilgamesh.

EDIT: Character name: Phoenix Gaf. I'm probably not going to keep this character if I decide to get the full game.

Capcom hasn't even archived the original assets what makes you think it'll be 60 fps.

We'll figure a way to get it over 30 FPS.
No point in shooting the concept down about it now, what with the game being months away from release.
Plus people may risk having to eat crow once it does have the ability to run over 60 FPS just fine.

At least gift copies are still viable thanks to the lack of PRIC.

...I just game them an idea, didn't I?

What game should I start tonight?

Metal Gear Rising
Saints Row IV
Deus Ex (the original)

Are you in the mood for something more subdued or something more action oriented? If the former, go with DX; if the latter, go with MGR. Both are great games for different reasons.

I usually don't scroll down to the bottom of my library - when did they add the Tools section? I can't remember seeing a category after "my games".

I'm not sure! I'm leaning towards Deus Ex but I think I have to install a couple of mods first. I'm very eager to start MGR as well though. How long is MGR?

So, the first game I complete on my shiny new 750 TI is...

Hector: Badge of Carnage

Ep1 only actually, but still, found it funny.

Still can't wrap my head around how quiet the GPU is. Only thing I'm hearing from the computer is hard drive platters, unless I'm 100%ing the CPU. Surreal, people.

Finished Expendabros. 53 minutes. Nice little diversion. Has some better bossfights compared to Broforce. And I liked the quick time event-like cutscene... Just something I wasn't expecting. Also dug the night time level. The unfortunate thing about the game is that I couldn't care any less about the Expendables where as I got a kick out of unlocking the T-800, Blade, Neo, etc in Broforce. The unlocking just wasn't as rewarding. Also, I'm kinda bummed that it goes away in December. Feel's almost like a waste to develop the game... In a sense. At least for the people playing it. I'm sure Free Lives/Devolver got something good out of it.

That bus is too damn clean. Where is the left over food on the seats. Blood and vomit on the floor?

Shush... I like Japanese names. They sounds cool as well.

I think GTA IV already got the New York Walk Simulator thing covered.

Haha, fair point, but a low-budget alternative wouldn't go astray. ;)

About a month ago (longer still if you're using the beta client).

An update has been released for the Steam Client and will be automatically downloaded.

Well, at the very least it serves as a demo for the game that will hopefully get people to check out the real thing. I enjoyed it a fair bit, the guy who does the quick-fire knives was pretty great, think he was my favourite of the bunch.

Is that game really a good test of GPU noise under load? I mean I got a 290 and it's relatively silent most of the time but once a game pushes it for long enough it quickly ramps up.

If you just go through the main game, and the Jetstream Sam and Blade Wolf DLCs, probably six to ten hours. It tends to vary a lot depending on what difficulty you play on. If you do most of the VR missions and really stretch out the game, it could take longer, especially if you go back and play on higher difficulties. If you do decide to play MGR, watch this video, it'll help a lot.

There are a lot of mods for DX, but I'm not really familiar with most of them, I played it years ago so I'm not up to date on it.

Obviously it's not, thatsthejoke.gif
I did run some proper benchmarks (Batman Oranges, Furmark) though, no problems with fan noise under 100% load.

Steam and Early Access: To curate or not curate?

So what's to be done? Hodgetts has a cool idea. He suggests Early Access games have a colour-coded indicator. Red would mean the developer has only just started work on the game, and green means it's nearly at beta. Between the colours is a line, with a pointer indicating where the game is along its development path.

You could even take the progress bar out of the hands of the developers and put it in the hands of the gamers, Hodgetts suggests. Each customer could click on the bar, indicating where they thing the game is in development. Steam could work its magic and almost crowdsource the result everyone sees.

There are rumours swirling around about how Valve intends to hand over curation of Steam to the gamers themselves. The idea is we'd each have our own, personal and customised store front. And you could, in effect, follow a friend's store front, which would then influence what you see when you load up Steam. This is what Dean Hall, Brian Fargo and others believe may happen.

I do this is In just about every RPG. I can't be bothered to do all those sidequests. Xenoblade was a good example. That game just goes nuts and as soon as I stopped bothering with them all so much weight was lifted. Still need to beat it though.

Haha, I have changed my avatar in honour of She-Hulk. In Comics-GAF there's a few people who have the opinion that the book's art is weird, specifically the character's eyes:

She-Hulk-1-Bonus.jpg

I happen to love it though, so I've changed my avatar appropriately. I mean, you've got to appreciate a comic book that revels in colour like this:

Anyway, back to being on-topic. I hit a wall in Wolfenstein TNO last night, have a checkpoint where I'm stuck in an enclosed space at the start of a level -
Return to London Nautica
- with very little ammo and a bunch of tough enemies. Think I've died about 10-15 times. Can't seem to push past it, very frustrating. Luckily my backlog was large enough that I can move on to other things. I'll probably end up breezing through it when I get back to it.

You can fail quests? Good to know. I'll be sure to save often if I ever go back to the game. ;)

Well, it's not as strange as that porn addiction game that was on Greenlight. I think that was taken down, come to think of it. Edit: Nope, it's still on Greenlight.

Welcome back from the ban :p

Bookmarked, I'll read this in the afternoon, sounds like an interesting article.

You can fail quests? Good to know. I'll be sure to save often if I ever go back to the game. ;)

You can also miss quests completely if you don't know what you're doing, and you can earn or miss bracer points by picking different options at different moments, so saving often is probably a good idea.

insert "you actually played a game" comment here

Valve should just announce their plans already. Press are running in circles at this point. We already know GL is going away and custom storefronts are coming.

exactly

yup

quests are timed by story events (much like xenoblade) so like you accept a quest and it says (medium) so you have like 3 story events to complete it or whatever.

you gotta get pretty ocd about checking the quest board cos there are (short) quests that are basically 1 or 2 story events and they're done

there are also hidden quests but i haven't found any so far. i heard that also to like 100% the game you have to do some crazy shit like not completing some quests or something. really weird shit so like, use a guide, specially since apparently this carries over to game 2

i don't really give a crap as i think missing stuff makes this shit more personal but you're your own brand of crazy

Ah, that's a cool idea. Btw. I am going to jump ship soon, gonna sell most of my DC Comics and get me all Spiderman books starting with One more Day.
I started reading Spider-Man with the Superior Spider-Man run, that was awesome. If you can afford going back further then I'm sure you'll get a lot out of it though. Just make sure you also pick up Superior Foes of Spider-Man. Not connected story-wise, it's just awesome. Also get Hawkeye!

I read it, it's a bit schizophrenic.
Starts talking about Greenlight needing curation, finishes on a note that Early Access is the only thing wrong with Steam ATM.
Nothing really new in it as well, except for one devs idea to color code EA titles (red for pre-alpha, green for release, colors inbetween for various stages of development).

Yeah, I'm planning on playing on Hard. And I'm a pretty slow player in general so I'll probably put 8-10 hours in or so I reckon.

Do you remember any of the mods you were using for Deus Ex?
