Steam is down due to a DDoS-Attack. The CSS-Preload started Monday and worked perfectly. No need to blame Steam here. Blame the damn hackers.

so they are still open und vulnerable to happy hackers? Great security improvement... but they also leaked the HL2 Story with their CS:Source. Valve will never change.

DoS attacks are pretty much unavoidable. They basically just spam your internet connection. He probably said hackers, because.. the recent wave of DoS have been propagated via Viruses. Get the virus on 10's of thousands of PC's and have it set for a date and time to begin spamming.

There is very little anybody can do to stop a DDoS attack. Even big sites like Google and MSN have had trouble with them.
