Killer is Dead
- Dr Dogg
"Grasshopper Manufacture’s 2013 console exclusive bizarre-em-up unexpectedly hits PC. Also as the subtitle suggest it also includes
some extra content; Theatre Mode to rewatch the story cutscenes, The Smooth Operator Pack (which was bundled in console first
prints) that adds a new Chapter and Boss encounter as well as X-Ray Glasses for Milamber Gigolo Mode, and a new difficulty aptly
titled Nightmare Mode which only allows enemies to be defeated with a few of the special moves and removes the QTE Finishers.
I played through the first 5 hours of this on PS3 and it was what I came to expect from a GHM game, simplistic combat mixed in with
quirky aesthetics and driven by an ambiguous and bonkers plot. Only damp spots on the game for me were the inconsistent frame
rate and bad screen tearing so a PC release and possibly 60fps+ is more than welcome."

Always Sometimes Monsters
- BinaryPork2737
"A mature story driven game, Always Sometimes Monsters is set to feature a wide range of variables that will affect how you progress
through the narrative. You can choose a variety of characters with different races and sexual preferences, as well as both genders, each
factor affecting how NPCs will react to you; just like real life, others are biased. There are blurred moral lines between the story altering
choices you're forced to make, and not all of the branching paths in the game will end well; the consequences of your actions are heavily
stressed. In a tale in which you've just been evicted and you're completely desperate, your decisions will alter your destiny for better, or
worse."

Wolfenstein: The New Order -
Levyne
"Wolfenstein: The New Order is a first-person shooter developed by MachineGames, headed by ex-members of Starbreeze, and it is the
first Wolfenstein title entirely without the id software label. The New Order seems to hark back to a classic age of FPS games, with limited
health regeneration, health and armor pickups, secret passageways, hidden weapon unlocks, and no limit to weapon usage. The game
features numerous set-pieces wrapped into a surprisingly engaging alternate-reality narrative. While it does not feature multiplayer, the
extensive campaign along with a light perk system and a mysterious hidden mode should give players looking to hunt some Nazis good
reason to give this title a look."

Battleblock Theater -
dark_inferno
"As Stamper said in the Intro : "Turn the lights down low and shut your faces, as i wrap you in a cozy blanket of a story." You will have a
good time blowing people to smithereens with your small gentleman frog, who is walking in a fashion way into Hatty Hatingtons hell.
You will collect lots of hats... oh sorry i mean... heads. Box-shaped heads, knight heads and heads heads. If you like collecting things
and you like wearing 5 Oculus...es...es while using your level-manipulation tool to make awesome levels for others to enjoy, and you
absolutely love unique MP modes then this game is for you and the SS Friendship full of friends is not that far away. Also Stamper is the
best narrator ever. Buckle your Pants for entertainment."

iIJbWyH73EoBO.png

Transistor - MMBosstones86
"Transistor is a sci-fi RPG from Bastion creators, Supergiant Games. You play as a young singer named Red as she comes into
possession of a mysterious intelligent sword, Transistor. Armed with the Transistor, Red must escape The Process while learning more
about the mysterious sword. Gameplay includes real time free movement as well as a strategic planning phase. After battles, experience
points as well as skill upgrades are earned."

M.A.V. - Modular Assault Vehicle
- More_Badass
"M.A.V. is the PC Chromehounds you always wanted. Across a single player campaign and multiplayer modes, you construct mechs from
thousands of parts and wage war across sprawling battlegrounds. As the developer elegantly put it for the successful Kickstarter, it's like "
playing with legos, only you're building a giant mech of destruction."

Tabletop Simulator
- CrunchyFrog
"Tabletop Simulator - Put simply, it's board game night brought into the internet age. With more than a dozen built in game modes, mods
and custom content importation, all wrapped in a no rules/no obstacles sandbox physics engine, you're free to play (or not play) however
you want. While it's still in early access, the game is already more than formed enough to be worth a purchase, and more official content
continues to be added every 1-2 weeks. In addition to the already available animated RPG figurines and tileset, Berserk Games have
pledged to add robust support for D&D and other P&P games, making this one of the best online P&P clients available. For $15, this
one's a steal."

The Forest
- Grief.exe
"The Forest is a first-person, open world, survival horror game with an emphasis on crafting. You are the lone survivor after your plane crash
lands in the titular forest. You must solve the mysteries of The Forest while foraging for food, building shelters, and crafting weapons to
thwart off nature as well as those things that go bump in the night."

The Steam Beta Client is up:

Steam Client Beta Update - April 30
We've just published a new beta which includes the following changes.

General:
  • Fixed several small memory leaks in the Steam client
  • Fixed a rare crash on workshop image update inside the library details view
  • DLC can now be disabled in the DLC properties page for a game

Windows:
  • Fixed a case where Steam could be seen as a voice application on startup and Windows would lower sound of other applications

Steamworks:
  • Fixed some AppVerifier errors/warnings caused by Steam that could make it hard for games to use AppVerifier to verify the rest of their code

Big Picture:
  • Added new profile section to the main menu replace the old community section. This brings Big Picture more up-to-date in terms of design and features with desktop/web community and adds better activity feed and profile views.
  • Improved movie playback support and support for animated gifs
  • Adding of non-Steam games is now directly supported in Big Picture
  • Non-Steam games now show icon art when available and when no custom art has been set in Big Picture
  • Fixed a bug where screenshot/out-of-focus mode could kick in when Big Picture had focus if you transitioned into it while already running a game
  • Fixed a bug where focus may end up in an unexpected place if the button currently in focus is deleted from the UI

In-Home Streaming:
  • The In-Home Streaming feature is now available to everyone running the client beta
  • Added an intro dialog the first time you start streaming a game
  • Show a dialog if the game needs cloud sync resolution before starting
  • Improved D3D asynchronous capture performance
  • Improved OpenGL asynchronous capture performance
  • Fixed slow system reporting for Fast and Balanced settings
  • Fixed several causes of infinite latency when client is too slow
  • Fixed client crash changing resolution with software decoding
  • Increased precision for refresh rate and capture framerate
  • Reduced latency when streaming at the client refresh rate

Steam Music Beta:
  • Improved crawling speed
  • Respect multiple albums in one directory and respecting disc number if available in tag data
  • Better handling of faulty tag data
  • Faster display of album and artist library views
  • Music features now available while offline
  • Duplicate artists bug fixed
  • Better compatibility with MP3 files containing cover art of unusual or big sizes
  • Database overhaul improves data quality; requires one-time automatic rebuild of beta testers’ libraries

Gentlemen, we can rebuild it. We have the capability to make the world's first enhanced store. Steam will be that store. Better than it was before.
Great job MRORANGE, as always.

I've been saying Steam needs a Spring sale for years. I don't get why they put so much effort into their pre-holiday sale that's just three weeks before their winter sale, but can't even put out a weekend of deals for spring.

Some carry-overs from the last thread:

New Steam client update allows users to disable DLC - useful if your game has bundled DLC that mess with the game economy!

Also, in more selfish news, I wrote a plot summary of the entire BioShock series' main arc in response to a poster who a few weeks ago asked for helped understanding what happened at Burial at Sea

I wonder if those fixed memory leaks will finally stop the windows error service triggering at random times during Steam's 'normal' working time.

OH MY GOD YOU CAN DEACTIVATE DLC.

Now I can buy all those Director's Cut DLCs that people say are a bit buggy but offer neat benefits!

I love how Steam gets an update 5 times a day but the UI is still horrible! My god putting cards on the market takes hours it is so poorly designed!

Gonna get the last 2 cards in Croloxu Sigma and any other cards from Iddle Dew then purchase Tesla Effect before its release.

New thread? But it's not May 1st yet!

I ended up buying two pieces of DLC for Child of Light. I'm part of the problem, I know, but I couldn't stand to have an incomplete game.

Whoa. Transistor is coming out in May? I need to pay more attention to these things. Also hadn't heard about BattleBlock Theater or Killer is Dead ports. I'm a terrible Steam thread user.

Yeah those new updates to streaming look like they will greatly benefit high latency, low hardware environments a ton. Way too late to test but I'll have a play about in the morning and hit up the streaming thread.

I love that no one did a hype review for the OP relating to Watch Dogs. Smart SteamGAF is smart

Funny you say that as I've got 400+ words typed up about it on my Mac at work. But what with having 1 recommendation already in this month and decidedly having a very skewed pro Ubi stance as of late I thought I best leave it alone :p

Hmm, I didn't know Killer is Dead was coming to steam. Beautiful OP, btw. I like the recommendations section. It's a nice touch. I never heard of May Day sale. Is that a real thing?

Your post doesn't instil me with confidence, but how usable is IHS these days? I have tried it with a handful of titles in the past and although some games were playable, it seemed to be all over the place with some games not working with controllers to racing games being very jerky.
