HROT is on sale for 6.79 USD for some boomer shooter goodness

Demo there if you are unsure
People are always mentioning this game but to me it looks way worse than DUSK. How is it gameplay wise? Does the shooting feel good and does it have neat level design?

Shooting felt fine, if not pretty good. B+/A-

It's more remiscent of the brutalist styling of Quake 2-ish in level design. Coming from DUSK, it might feel too minimalistic in aesthetics. The map layout itself was inspired.

Bear in mind, I only played the demo previously and just know the reviews for it are good from people into Boomer Shooters.

My GOAT. This entire game was coded by one man in a language that has been dead since the turn of the century. The responsiveness is spooky. It's like playing on a CRT. The feel of this one is so damn good.

Do it. If you've ever liked a boomer shooter, and you can appreciate cheeky art, do it. My holy trinity of boom shoots is Dusk, HROT and Turbo Overkill.

Got my last few games for this Summer sale.

Got all the big Remedy games now.

Got the bundle 1st and 2nd games.

And I finally quit PC Gamepass. So needed to get.

Now I just need to not restart Gamepass.

Seems topical. I didn't know this existed but this thread made me boot HROT. There goes 9 hours of my week.

I didn't know this existed. I wonder if they will do another print...

After Max Payne 2, Quantum Break is my fav Remedy game. So underrated.

I just hope they don't break it by doing something with the 4K movie servers that the game uses. As far as I know, the Xbox version lets you download the 1080p versions but the PC version requires 4K movies to be streamed.

I still have my physical copies of Max Payne 1 and 2. This might be a good time to pick them up digitally if there is any truth to Remedy remaking Max Payne 1 and 2... all signs point to yes. If that happens the originals might be de-listed.

So far, I've picked up:

- RoboCop: Rogue City ($5.00)
- Detroit : Become Human (wow, what a theme... RocoCop and this) ($5.00)
- Control Ultimate Edition ($7.00)
- Dead Space (remaster) ($8.00)
- Streets Of Rage 4 + Mr. X Nightmare DLC ($10.00)
- Devil May Cry Collection ($15.00) I already owned quite a few games in this collection. So it discounts whatever you already have in your Steam Library

I don't think I will be purchasing anything else.

A few worthwhile Bundles and other single game releases:

RESIDENT EVIL RELOAD COLLECTION EXTRA:

RESIDENT EVIL 4 (Remake):
- This is the lowest price the remake has been to date for PC. Probably won;t see a price like this again until the Holiday sale. :

Devil May Cry Franchise Pack:

DEAD RISING FRANCHISE PACK

DEAD SPACE (remake):
- The deluxe edition is only a dollar more... Dead Space?

Robocop: Rogue City - Collection:
- Robocop: Rogue City on its' own is 90% off. That alone is worth a purchase. The whole collection with Unfinished Business is a deal in itself.

Quantic Dream Collection:
- Detroit: become Human was inspired by the RoboCop (1987 movie)... this Quantic Dream collection is 90% off ...

BeamNG.Drive:
- OK, this is only 20% off, which is not an amazing deal. The game is still in early access, but it does get some big updates. The best sandbox soft bod car simulator out there with so many mods and user made content.

I mean...

South Park Trilogy bundle:

Quantum Break (80% off):

Streets of Rage 4/ Shinobi: Art of Vengence Bundle:

Wonder Boy: The Dragons Trap:

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder's Revenge and Splintered Fate Bundle:

Hotline Miami x The Hong Kong Massacre :
- Hotline Miami is still worth owning all these years later and it is just $1.50 on its own

Batman: Arkham Collection :
-Great bundle price.

Batman: Arkham Origins :
- Not included with the above bundle. Dirt Cheap!

Tomb Raider Adventure Bundle:
- contains Tomb Raider I - VI remasters as well as the Survival Trilogy

Control Ultimate Edition + Alan Wake Origins Bundle:
- Keep in mind that this is not the Alan Wake Remaster... that is on EGS along with Alan Wake 2.

Disco Elysium - The Final Cut + Planescape: Torment: Enhanced Edition :
- Weird bundle. But two worthy games. There is also a Control Ultimate Edition and Disco Elysium bundle.

Prince Of Persia Franchise Bundle:
-Worth taking a look at

Nightdive Studios Adventure Pack:
- A Night Dive bundle pack of old school FMV adventure games...

Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night:
- Kickstarted by IGA himself back in 2017. The game is 90% off and honestly one of the best Metroidvanias out there.

People like to say Steam Sales aren't good anymore, but this sale was objectively very good, IMO. Lots of new historical lows, and some of the featured deep discounts, like Dead Space are insane.

Definitely the best sale in quite a while! It was nice to skip out on some games for once to pick them up for a lower price down the road :)

Thanks for the reminder! I totally forgot about the Dead Space deal. Deluxe version purchased. :p

*not as good.

But there were some nice throwbacks like the Binding of Isaac bundle.

I can't stand these these fuckersl lol.

I've played literally every MGS but Snake Eater because we moved during that time when I was younger but by that point everyone spoiled the ending for me and I only know the boss defected from the Soviet Union.

Debating getting it but the master collection and Delta Prices keep stopping me from pulling the trigger.

Delta has too many actual gameplay changes I don't like and MGS is bundled otherwise it's 20 bucks but DAMN I love MGS 2 and know I'll end up running the entire trilogy.

Delta is fine I guess but some of the modernization has a similar effect that Twin Snakes had over the original in that it takes some teeth away from the game's difficulty.

Yeah I know and right now I'm debating on if I want the master bundle with or without Delta, I want MGS 2 now and Delta ends up being bundled in at such a good price it's point me towards it

I didn't hate it and I hate most things, but I'm pretty sure my next replay will be of the classic HD version.

Decided to finally try Atomic Heart.

Pros: the art style and setting are incredible Graphically it's really good too

Cons: it's giving me a bad headache. Refunding it, unfortunately.

Purchased a few more classics and unfortunately gave some money to Sony, the number 1 gaming public enemy rn

- Spiderman Remastered, (I don't like Marvel or superhero shit but imo this is a very polished albeit repetitive game and it was 60% + money from selling Trading cards = 70%+ off was a decent deal for this)
- Ghost of Tshushima Directors Cut ( I had only played the PS4 version without dlc )
- Nier Automata ( need to find out the hype )
- Stranger for Paradise: Final Fantasy
- Lies of P ( yea, I know I'm late but I was very busy when it launched and then I forgot about it )
- Blasphemous 2 + Mea Culpa DLC

I'm done till Autumn.

I had the same issue with the motion sickness/headaches in this but once I turned off headbob, increased fov and set mouse sensitivity to a playable level it was fine. Initially you might get sick because of shader compilation stutter or something but it goes away once it's compiled and smooth. Also limit fps.

You aren't missing all that much. It's a pretty standard Bioshock-ish game with amazing visuals and a horny fridge.

Also it's funny it gave you a headache because it also gave me a headache and I have no clue why.

Bought some more games:

X4-Foundations with all dlc

Palworld

Runescape Dragonwild

Remnant II

Disc golf masters

Feels good to have been this invested in a sale, was along time ago since ive been.

Only the second game I've ever played that gave me a headache. The first was Final Fantasy Type-0 HD thanks to its ridiculous implementation of motion blur.

Holy shit I forgot about Type-0. I dropped that game in roughly 10 minutes because it gave me a migraine.

I'm prone to migraines but it's rare that regular games give me headaches or migraines (VR gives me migraines and pretty bad nausea however).

What's the performance like on PC? Very tempted to pick it up.
as long you limit to 60fps and maybe disable SSR it's fine, the issue are those slo-mo blood splatter. This game looks very washed and has some bad graphics but the gameplay is really fun and the story, dialogue are shitposts and the OST is great.

Thank you. I played the game to completion on PS5, but just wanted to know if the game ran well on PC. Bought it! :)

It launched in a pretty rough state on PC, but it got a few patches that helped. There's a character who had weirdly overdetailed geometry, so any time he was on the screen it would tank people's performance (lol) but I think that got fixed.

Can definitely recommend running some fixes through Special K

Cheers mate. Appreciate the help. Bookmarked for when I eventually play it.

Batman Arkham Asylum and City run amazing on Steam Deck and the smaller screen hides a lot of the era accurate textures. It's amazing how much of Arkham City could pass for a current gen game.

In truth, the VAST majority of these games will be from bundles like Humble Choice where I'm interested in 1-2 games that make the bundle worthwhile, but I redeem everything anyway.

I'm terrified to know this answer!

The answer will either motivate me to play more or sell everything and take up a new hobby lol

Definitely my worst purchase decision of the last few years by a light year distance. Uh, if only I knew what I'm getting into (I've absolute zero experience with Danganronpa series) :messenger_weary: 🫴

It's so bad I can't even begin to describe it. What a terrible first impression which lasts for like 5 hrs and it should've been no more than 1,5 at best! So much needless yaping and getting over the same things hundreds of times which can make Persona 5 doing similar things look like it wasn't a big deal at all. Like 3,5 hrs was spent on literally and absolutely nothing interesting or cool to make the game long for no other reason but to not let you refund it after you seen all of the nonsense it throws at you. And as if that was not enough, they turned unique palaces from Persona 5 into a giant slog with boring as sin gameplay, "boss fights", stupid mini-games and mountains of meaningless and needless text explaining every plot point for the 1560193616 time over and over again and again. The MC is such a whiny and pathetic motherfucker that there's no way you'll like him and Shinigami is so annoying with the way she talks it's unbelievable.

There's some things to like like visual style, great OST and Japanese VA even if I don't like some of the characters, but it completely fails at everything else and the more you play Chapter 0, the less you like the game, or... at least I did. I wish I could take these 5 hrs back and the money I wasted.
