Steam Users: New GUI Update

It's still beta though, just add "-clientbeta betaui" to your shortcut and see the magic :)

It looks infinitly better, has more options to customise and works a bit better. (like being able to hide games you don't have installed!!! - bit annoying when you have the entire VALVe backlog and only want to play Source engine games.

It's only the front end, the UI in the game itself is exactly the same. It seems to start up faster as well, but no way to check that for certain. As of now no errors or weird things, so it seems pretty stable as well. Downgrading is easy, just remove the comment again and you're good to go!

Awesome news. :)

I guess this is as good a place to ask as any, but is there any way to see previous Steam Update News pages? I know Valve has linked to some in the past, so they must have them archived somewhere..

I don't mean just the news tab that lists the engine updates and whatnot on steampowered.com, but the actual popups when you log into Steam. I accidentily closed one earlier today before looking at it.

On your desktop shortcut, right click on the icon, goto properties.

In the target field, you can add various comments, if you add " -clientbeta betaui" you'll get the new GUI.

Andy787, I know what you mean, and I also know they have a normal URL. But the exact address of those is something I don't know. - The last update was a final call to purchase Rag Doll Kung Fu if that was the thing you wanted to know

Not in the comment, in the target box. Poor wording on my part :)

Prepare the original HL engine games for the new GUI, nothing special really.

I wanted to give it a (shameless) bump so the timing of that update was perfect :)
