MAGES has announced a new entry in the Science Adventure series, Steins;Gate Re:Boot. This visual novel, planned for a 2025 release, will be based on the original title with new story additions and graphics. No platforms were confirmed.

Fans can also anticipate the foundation of the original Steins;Gate being built upon. The newly redone graphics will be by the returning original artist, huke. We will keep you all updated on this unexpected announcement. Thanks to Famitsu for sharing this news.​

I am not sure what to think honestly. Steins;Gate is my favorite VN of all times. Well, not that I could stand a lot of VNs, lol. But anyways…

The Elite version didn’t really bring anything to the table and made some things worse. So I am not going to have any expectations toward this release.

Ok, I am interested. The anime art-style from Elite was pure shit (didn't buy the game because of this). They better go back to the beautifully detailed characters and backgrounds of the original Steins Gate, or at least, Steins Gate 0.

Super out. Steins Gate is awful. I say this as an anime fan. There'd need to be some rewrites to salvage Okabe's character (from being an insufferable twat). Seeing as how most people who like SG don't see a problem with him though, I doubt this would be the subject of any updates.

See the anime first or the visual novel?

Since you like VNs I'd recommend the original version with all the gorgeous artwork from huke that's currently on sale on Steam, but the anime is also a good starting point into the series.

There's also the newer Steins;Gate Elite which is a simplified version based on the anime adaptation meant for fans of the anime who might not be into VNs. It's stripped out a lot and replaced the art with anime stills and cutscenes.

Don't think so.

In an unarchived personal stream, executive producer Chiyomaru Shikura appears to have confirmed Steins;Gate Re:Boot is a separate title from Steins;???, the thematic sequel to Steins;Gate announced in 2020.It is likely the sequel is still in active development. Shikura also seems to have mentioned he is more heavily involved with it than with Re:Boot.

It starts slow, and the main character is intentionally unlikeable at first, but he is one of the best written protags I've ever read and the ballsy decision to write the main character as a depressed, misanthropic, misogynistic hikkomori coward eventually pays off with considerable interest.

I've spent a good portion of the last 10 years wanting to write something like chaos;head and not being able to pull it off.

Chaos head is peak mkultra scifi-horror, if you can get past the slow start.

I'll be playing the rest of the Science Adventure Series for next year but for the Stein;Gate VNs, I'll wait on playing them until Stein;Gate Reboot comes out.

When it comes to Science Adventure VNs for next year: Robotics;NOTES and Anonymous Code are the ones I'm looking to play for 2025

But for this year I only played AI The Somnium Files (I hated the game, but the plot is fantastic) and Death Mark II (Loved the game)

And I'll be playing through Muv-Luv on Switch for this year
