Yup. The title is now "Lady in the Water". He was originally remaking it at Disney, but split over "creative differences" (which means Disney told him The Village was shit) and now Warner Brothers is bringing it out (thus the name change).

Remaking a (classic) 80's comedy as a drama/thriller? STOP M NIGHT NOW. Is nothing sacred?

the twist this time is that he's mixing it with Ranma 1/2. so when daryl hannah gets wet, she turns into Tom Hanks.

I'm sorry, but Tom Hanks + [Naked] Daryl Hannah is a combination that will be hard to beat.

Not only that, but even though I like M. Night's work (only seen The Sixth Sense/Unbreakable/Signs), I don't think he's a good choice for "Splash".

Oh crap. WTF, is M. Night out of original ideas already (not that he ever really had any to begin with)? Man, Splash is one of me favorite movies. Saw it 3 times in the theater back in the day. And I do the loose change trick ALL THE TIME.

Uh, no. When it was at Disney it was a Splash remake. Now that it is at Warner Brothers it technically isn't because Disney owns Splash.

The only person that has said this is a remake of Splash is Harry Knowles. No one else has confirmed it AFAIK.
