i just played several games on live with a buddy of mine, and ran into some odd bugs.

basically, half the sound effects would drop out at random times, graphics would load and pop in occasionally (much like when a map first loads, or the infamous cutscene stuff), explosions would often not appear, or only partly appear, and lastly, sometimes the soundeffects would sound waaaay off.

so, i'd run around, shoot my gun and not hear it (or hear a weird "twang" noise), throw plasma grenades that didnt glow and usually didnt explode visually. my buddy was in a gauss hog shooting at me, and it sounded really odd, like the sound effect godzilla would make walking through a city.

my friend said his was doing similar things, and strangely, it did it on more then one map (so it didnt seem to be a bad load). has anything like this happened to anyone else?

Is this happening on the new maps? If so, it's gotta be modders. I played some of the original maps today and noticed no problems like the ones you mentioned (althoug in the past I have not heard the grenade sound effect).

it was new maps, but i was playing only with one other guy, my friend, and he wouldnt even begin to know how to mod halo 2.

it was his first time playing the new maps though, so maybe it was just an issue with his xbox properly loading them?

I have encountered the graphical pop-up online ever since the game came out, and some of the sound effects getting warped as well. On occassion, I would throw plasmas that didn't glow and then dissappeared. I've also been running around on Lockout and suddenly there is this wierd noise that bellows from my speakers and I reappear on the other side of the map. Times when a gun doesn't reload or when I throw a gernade but it doesn't do the hand animation. Lots of wierd bugs in Halo 2 and they are becoming more frequent.

Yeah, I really love it when I hit reload after a battle and then there's no animation so I stop and hit the X button repeatedly and then magically I have a full clip of ammo again. Oddly enough, it occurs mainly on the battle rifle for me. I've only seen it once or twice on other weapons.

I've only noticed this a couple times when there was a lot of crazy stuff going on. Big team battles or rumble pits on a small map like Warlock. Perhaps it has to do with latency and lag. If the game is not communicating with the other players, it may be sending the signal that it's doing something.. there's some network hiccup, and by the time it gets the signal that the action can proceed, it's too late and it skips the animation. That's how I always interpreted it.

Yeah, I really love it when I hit reload after a battle and then there's no animation so I stop and hit the X button repeatedly and then magically I have a full clip of ammo again. Oddly enough, it occurs mainly on the battle rifle for me. I've only seen it once or twice on other weapons.

in fact, now that you mention it, i think the BR is the only weapon i've seen it happen. i'll do the same and try to reload over and overagain, then i realize that even though my ammo counter is off, i have a full clip. usually, if i'm not being pressed, i'll just switch to myu second weapon, then back again.

before I stopped playing H2, I had 2 issues after the new maps, both seemed lag related but they never cleared up once the system "learned" how to work better like it was supposed to. my 2 were

sword was broken, you would lunge, hit someone and bounce back off them into lunge distance for them . Made sword only mode a freaking nightmare of disaterous ownage.

Lift in colossus, I would have to ride that thing 5 times before finally getting to the top. get half way up, start at the bottom again, get half way up, start at the bottom again. 3-5 times. This would happen all the time on a solid green connection bar.

strange, i dont think i've ever seen either of those... hey, at least they fixed the teleporter on beaver creek

What the heck is wrong with halo 2 since yesterday?! Ive heard scattered reports (not to mention my own battle with):

- Freezing
- Disappearing geometry
- Disappearing sounds
- Distorted messages
- Dropping from games

Has anyone else got these weird... unbareable, unplayable symptoms on their xbox???

Sad thing is, XBL works fine with Forza or Splinter Cell... so it has to be something to do with this mysterious "update"

I've noticed more cheating than usual lately. These "Modders" who can fly invincibly through the air are a real pain in the ass. Last night we did big-team battle on Sanctuary and this dude on the other team flies way high up over the map while sniping us like god's hand. To make things worse, he was invulnerable to our bullets. So he just flew over us while sniping, grabbed our flag, and flew back with it. Rinse and repeat. The final slap was all the shittalking he and his teammates did. Like they actually earned the right.

At least the new maps are finally available in Team Preview.
