Strange Safari OS X redirects...

I can't remember the last time I got a virus. I'm always extremely thoughtful in my computer use, and I don't install random nonsense.

Having said that, I have come across a strange problem and I'd like GAF's thoughts on it:

-Rarely (once every 3 or 4 days) I will be redirected to a "spam" website. One of those bogus health/nonsense websites.

-Oddly enough, it does not happen on a click. This is what confuses me. If I hit a site and I was redirected, I could understand. But to just randomly access a new website? Seems super strange.

-GAF is usually my go-to site on the internet, so as of now it's only site I've noticed this problem.
Does anyone have any thoughts? I've checked my Safari extensions, did a malware search, googled for similar cases and came up with nothing.

I'm maybe concerned there is some javascript randomly being run behind the scenes? Not sure.

What say you, GAF?

This is a known problem on GAF right now in particular. Seems to be a rogue ad. Could happen on any AdSense-equipped website.

Interesting, thanks for the info. Glad it's not localized on my computer, and hopefully we can get this fixed soon.

There are literally half a dozen topics on this issue...

Which topics? What did you search to find them? What is the point of this post?

A coworker of mine gets redirected with h a boguse ga.js script - it should be Google's code but the content is from a Russian site. It took him days and tried to use other DNS services to stop it.

Try flushing your DNS from the console.

I flushed the DNS from my console and noticed this issue happening afterwards.

I also have been using only Google's DNS servers throughout this experience.

Essentially you want to look for the DNS settings, like so http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/322817/getting-google-redirects-check-your-router/

Aside from that, you might try going through your Safari preferences to double-check that things are setup correctly from a security standpoint.

Otherwise, does it happen with non-Safari browsers(like Chrome) too?

Thanks! I'm going to look into that right now.

As far a non-Safari browsers... I'll switch to Chrome for a few days to see if I can spot the issue. It happens so rarely and it is seemingly impossible to manually recreate the issue that this is my only way of testing if it's browser specific.

It's a known issue with GAF at the moment, which apparently EviLore is looking into.

I'm just going to hazard a guess and point the culprit to Flash in some way, shape, or form.
