Yeah, waste more money on fluff nobody cares about then have crazy high expectations for the sales and say we tried, folks didn't care, makes sense. Does anyone really care about such stuff, save for some football/sports game having national/local celebrity match announcers?
It's just background noise. Gameplay is so fast they're barely ever saying anything resembling the on screen action, unlike said sports games where they have time to name all the players and their actions as they run across a field. It's just gonna be repeated stupid catch phrases...
And it's not even just paying for one announcer which can be cool, I mean, some SF games have had pretty distinct voices that add to their atmosphere (though you really only notice the pre-game/end game stuff, Round X, Fight, Winner, etc.) but they're gonna have a bunch, lol!
