...Stringer said that PSP owners "will soon be able to deploy the device's built-in WiFi, to watch video from home entertainment terminals, anytime, anywhere in the world" adding that it will be synchronized to a user's PVR player...

...On PS3 he said, "It will be our biggest breakthrough yet. It plays in high definition and high drama. The Cell microprocessor really sets the PS3 apart...offering twice the processing power of Xbox 360. It's simply amazing in a home entertainment device. The PS3 is only the beginning, but it is a monumental technical advance."...

...Stringer said Sony could still revive itself if its engineers worked more closely together across product lines to develop "champion products" that can't be easily copied by low-cost Chinese and South Korean manufacturers...
i think this quote from reuters is the real difficulty sony faces.

speaking of flowery words...

Wow, this is amazing PR bullshit. I think Sony actually deserves some credit for this. :lol Did they hire a poet?

i'm not filled with confidence when stringer comes out with stuff like this. what kind of products [non playstation] could sony create that couldn't be copied and sold cheaper?

...He added, "We must free ourselves from the old ways that bind us. We will triumph by building into our products sustainable competitive advantages that defy the forces of commoditization"...and at that moment giant silicon wings sprouted from the back of Mr. Stringer's dark blue suit. He ascended to the top of the conference room buffeted by the warm winds exhaled by his admirers below.
Mr. Stringer has yet to be recovered from the centers peak and continues to rest there occasionally flapping his new wingspan. He hangs composed, apparently in some sort of satanic trance brought on by a his marketing-speak. There are no current plans to recover Mr. Stringer though a series of promotional shots are planned featuring his floating form and the Sony PSP to promote a new title by Sony Europe.

Stringer is good at making these kinds of quotes. I don't know how good he is with putting them to work. The president before him identified these same issues more or less, but couldn't quite put all the different Sony divisions to work together.

Because he continued to allow the divisions too much independent power, all about the culture of their business etc... as a "outsider" per se Stringer can move more around and make more shit happen without people taking it as more of an insult in being forced to do...

What about Aibo? But who wants those damn things anyway.

SCE Worldwide Studios is a good start. :)

Mini Discs were nice. I still have a MD walkman. But, I just got an iPod last month and have no idea where the MD walkman went.

Aren't Aibo's copied for like $19.99 robot dog toys that you could pick up in any corner shop in Chinatown?

Sure, they don't do everything Aibo does, but probably does 75% of it. :)

do you have a good reason for your good? Did a MD player come and kill your puppy or something? The tech is good, it's the effort Sony put forth in keeping it viable that is lacking.
Could be true, but multiple formats usually don't benefit the consumer.
