You guys ever watch this stupid show on G4/Tech TV?

I don't mind the show. I don't even mind this Viktor guy who seems to know what he's talking about.

But this Tommy guy needs to be shot. Seriously, what'd they do? Go out to a Mets game, find some jerkoff talking about how cool GTA is and give him his own show? This guy seriously is so aggrevating, annoying, upsetting, any NUMBER of adjectives, that he wants me to throw gamecubes at him until I put one of his eyes out.

Haha. Tommy Talarico...wow, what a character. I remember him during the Playstation days...every review was basically "THIS GAME IS NOT LIKE TEKKEN 3, GRAN TURISMO, OR METAL GEAR SOLID, THEREFORE IT SUCKS!"

Victor Lucas is awesome. I can't say anything bad about him. I may disagree with him sometimes, but he knows his stuff.

ok. just as long as I'm not the only one that wants his head on a pike sitting outside in my front yard.

actually, no. if I was able to get ahold of his head, I'd build a moat around my house, so I could then build a bridge, and hang his head off of it.

It always cracks me up when they run Eps with "Kate" from lost as their model. That and the 900 number commercials she's in.

I love him because everyone hates him. It's true.

Same here. I always get a kick when so many people get worked up over something so trivial and stupid. "His opinions offend me! WAAAAAAHAHAHAAAAAAA! Mommy make it stop!"

Only worthwhile thing on G4 anyway is Icons.

Would she be the one in that T-Shirt that says "cordless" or something like that?

Despite spelling it wrong, I said "few currnet :lol gen games." Since he started the show he has mainly focused on working on it. The vast majority of his work in game music was in the 16 and 32 bit gens.

I used to hate the guy, but then I figured that's just how he is. He's always gonna hate quality games with cutsy graphics. And that's not gonna change. So why complain.

It's not his "offensive opinions". I'm not "offended" by people talking loudly in movie theaters ... it's just really annoying.

That fact is that the guy is a complete dipshit and that pisses people off. Hell, I've agreed with the guy before and I still wanted him to shut the fuck up. In fact, if the show could pay him to come to my house and beat me over the head with a 2x4 and not say anything every week, I'd probably like him a lot more.

I think it's more to due with the three year old humour the guy employs with me. I mean how many times does a middle aged guy need to mention fart jokes. Every episode seems to have at least one bad joke.

it's not even about his opinions. I don't give a damn if someone doesn't like a game, but they have to be able to back it up more than by just saying, "You know, I dunno, it just seems average. It's a 7.5." C'mon... give me something! Tell me there's lag in the online play. Tell me the graphics look old. You can't just say "Eh, I dunno, ya know? Here's my score."

The dudes a choad.

:lol What's really funny is that half the same people continue to watch him anyway. If he's that annoying, while put yourself through so much pain? Anyway, his opinions are no more full of shit then 90% of the idiot posters on this board, or the host of "professional" reviewers on sites and in print.

This is a legit complaint...but really, this sort of immature humour has been a staple of video gaming "journalism" since it's birth, and continues to be. Which tells me the problem starts with the game industry itself.

I'd rather watch Tommy's poor reviews than put up with X-Play's unfunny political jokes and whining every time they have to review a game with a gun in it.

Hell, at least you can believe that Tommy and Victor actually play the games they "review". Sessler was on The Screen Savers a few weeks ago where he explained how X-Play works. They get the review copy of the game and then send it out to a "reviewer" who plays and reviews the game and sends them the text. They then take the text, fill it with their unfunny political whining, and act out the review on the air.

As strange as it sounds, I kind of trust Judgement Day's reviews as despite them complaining about some strange things; they get to the point without joking around or trying to make some political statement. When I want to find out a game is good or not, I just want to hear about the game, not your political stance. Judgement Day sticks to discussing the game, even if Tommy is annoying.

Take Ghost Recon 2 as a recent example. On Judgement Day they actually looked at the PS2 and Xbox versions and pointed out how the Xbox one was the better of the two and discussed how it compared to other similar games on the system (like Rainbow Six 3). On X-Play, Sessler cracked jokes about the Iraq war and read the whole review with a very sarcastic slant because it was a military game.

Victor Lucas is awesome. I can't say anything bad about him. I may disagree with him sometimes, but he knows his stuff.

I agree. I haven't agreed with all of his reviews, but I can respect his opinion on the games they review as he definitely seems to know his stuff about all genres of games.

The only time I really thought they were on crack is when they said NHL 2005 was so much better than ESPN NHL 2005.

This is an excellent, well devised idea.

I just wanted to say that.

I agree with this. X-Play blows. They really don't review games anymore. They briefly mention their personal reactions to the subject matter of the games then proceed to make fun of them. The perfect example of this is their Shining Tears review. They didn't like the game but not once did they say what exactly they didn't like about the game. I don't even want to mention their skits or all the condescending comments they make about gamers in general. Tommy might be annoying but he's far easier to tolerate than the attitudes and general stupidity of the X-Play staff. At least, Tommy's annoyingness is counter-balanced by Victor. X-Play on the other hand doesn't have a Victor, they go off on a tangent of stupidity and it doesn't let up until the show ends. I really hate to say this but I'm starting to like the G4 half of G4TechTV more than the TechTV half. It's really sad. TechTV's shows were either cancelled to make room for G4's shows or they imploded on themselves.

I hate both of them after watching their SSBM review on EP. It's obvious both of them were paid off even if Lucas claimed Nintendo won't be able to make great games by throwing all their mascots and having them hit each other, err, something to that effect. Did they even play it?

Right.

I didn't even know that he made a note of hating on Nintendo games, but that explains both why certain people dislike him and why certain people come to his defense (or get pissy about people disliking him).

That seems to have started mainly after they moved to the new studios. It wasn't so bad in the beginning, but the reviews over the last few weeks have been REALLY bad. It used to be that once in a while, they'd have a review with a little too much joking, but now it's just way over the top.

What do you mean paid off? Who paid them off to give them a bad review? (IIRC it was Tommy 2.5/10, and Victor gave it 3.5/10)

Actually, that review is why I came into this thread. They gave them bad reviews, oh well, it's no big deal they can have their opinion. Then they say "and EGM gave it an 8.5, moving on..." WAIT A MINUTE!! What do you mean 8.5? You gave the game worst marks than Blood Omen 2, and that shitty Contra game, and then you just say EGM gave it an 8.5? And you don't want to even followup on that? Explain why your opinions are so vastly different?

So you read the EGM article to see why they had different opinions.... WAIT A MINUTE! 9.5?!?! Game of the month!?!? Not only did EP not bother to explain EGM's high score of the game, they actually LIED about what the score really was.

So you go to EP's website to email them a question about this.... WAIT A MINUTE!?! The guy who reviewed it on the EP website gave it an 8? So now even your own website is disagreeing with your review?

This was the day I stopped caring about the show. I don't trust them worth shit no more.

You know, I don't know his review history (what he prefers and doesn't prefer) but just looking at that fucker pisses me off.

I remember when Twisted Metal Black was rated I think 9.5, and the only bad thing they could think of about the game was something like "well, the stories would have been just as good if it weren't for the psychotic characters with troubled pasts of violence and child abuse" (I'm talking about Electric Playground here).

I think I also remember Tallarico saying that he tought that all in all, Nintendo really won the consoles war as N64 versus the PlayStation. :(

How can anyone stand a moron on TV who reviews games by saying the cons of the game are "its stupid, its kiddy" or saying a game is good because the pros are "its cool!". I'm sorry but X-play's "fakeness" is much better than the crap that comes out of EP.
