The black man everyone at Activision can agree on
My Cyberhome CH-500 which I've had for a bit has developed the annoying habit of getting "stuck" at certain points in movies, regardless of the actual physical condition of the DVD, last night I almost chucked the thing out the window.

The only reason I picked it up was because how easily you were able to go in to the hidden menu and adjust it to be able to play all-regions DVDs... it converts PAL to NTSC as well... so are there any replacement model suggestions here? I see lots of sub to $100 DVD players out there now but are any of them as easily hackable and have the PAL to NTSC conversion ability?

Philips 757 easily the best for what your asking. Its a single disc though. But its got awsome features. And pal to ntsc and vice versa is awsome.

Get the Philips DVP-642. It's about $69, progressive scan, pal->ntsc conversion, region free, plays just about every video format you can think of, mpg, divx, xvid, mp3, etc, and is highly compatible with just about any type of burned media you can think of. It's a steal at $69.
