I still need to beat it, but I love God Hand. The game just tells you to git gud, when I get bodied I know why I got bodied. Then when I get through an area perfectly I just feel godlike.

This is barely relevant because it's about hype and hockey, which pretty much means it's about Canada. Why is it that English speaking commentators never get as hype as Spanish ones? Last night was the first time the Florida Panthers had a Spanish radio broadcaster since 1996 and just holy fuck, so damn hype.

This call here, on this goal. I mean, it was amazing for everyone since it was right out of the penalty box that he got in on a bullshit call, but damn, I don't even know what he was saying and it was the hypest thing I heard in a while.

Sounds basically the same to me. Spanish side just emphasizes the goal a bit more, like how the crowd celebrates.

Everybody does it. And everyone has preconceived notions that affect their perception of a game one way or another.

The difference is that reviewers are paid to give games a fair shake and provide a relatively unbiased perspective. They have an obligation to their readership to give an informed opinion.

I used to think, the way that commentators and podcasters described it, that Gaf was a place of good discussion and breaking news.

Gaf really isn't any better than Gamefaqs when it comes to discussion and threads.

What?

I realize that some of you might be jaded by whatever grandiose expectations you had of GAF, but it probably is the best resource for gaming news. News is often broken here and gets copied on various games sites. And in depth discussion on games and game mechanics still prevail here over a messageboard like Gamefaqs.

Before ultimate marvel 3 came out. Topic was ghost rider vs Dante. That shit was the worst. All I wanted to talk about was the fucking game.

Ultimate Marvel's OT is alive, with discussion still brewing about strategies years later. You don't see that anywhere else except specialist forums like Shoryuken, and definitely not on a general gaming forum.

Developers post here. Publishers post here. Vendors post here. People enthusiastic about the hobby post here, and from all different parts of the world. Hot button issues are discussed here, and some campaigns that have gained traction (like #PS4NODRM) started here.

I don't agree with how some of the current moderation is handling things, but GAF is far and away still one of the best resources for gaming on the internet.

I didn't really have grandiose expectations, but I would hardly call posting about the official blogs and press releases "breaking news." I've barely seen any depth discussion; the posts in topics are usually one liners, and lately it seems like every other topic is an "I don't like a thing" or speculative posting about something that doesn't exist.

Oh my god the gintama movie is so goooooood! Like god damn its so sad and funny and badass its just everything...its a shame the first movie was just a condesed version of a single arc but that second movie mmm right in the feels.

I was describing gamefaqs at that time. I definitely know that neogaf is way better then any other forum that I've been to.

What do you consider "breaking news"? Because from where I'm standing, if an official blog is the first reveal of news, it's breaking news. This is a messageboard. Not a news site. People aren't paid to post here, and rarely will GAF individuals get a sneak peek without a leak of some kind.

How long have you been on GAF? Long enough for there to be a leak? A lot of Bloodborne materials were leaked here very early on. There's also CBOAT, who regularly would leak details regarding the XBONE release.

If all you're doing is viewing the first page threads, you're looking in the wrong places. OTs generally have discussion about the game's story and mechanics.

One liners and memes will exist as long as there's the internet. Hell, you're posting in a thread right now that is probably one of the most egregious offenders on all of GAF. That certainly doesn't discredit the rest of the forum.

I will say the average overall quality of thread topics has gone down a little, but I chalk that up to just an increase in chaff from the site's popularity.
