It's not like it's a forecast for tomorrow. That man is predicting for the 24th of november. You can't predict that far into the future, except for some general trends.

I predict november is going to be rainy, windy and cold for the Netherlands. :O GIVE ME A MEDAL!!!

;)

great, I'm ready to take a swim in the streets of Leiden... I knew I should've stayed farther east...

should be interesting. I will fashion a boat and launch it from my attic should the worst happen.

I mean its hard to predict all these things in advance but is it smart to baricade your windows with wood plates and nails? or will that be ripped off when there is such a big storm?
I really dont have a clue what is sufficient to provide safety, or should be duck and cover..

Come on man, it's only Piet Paulusma whose saying it...
No, it isn't.
Not that I believe this other guy mind you. I doubt we'll see anything significantly more serious than the usual this time of year.

Yup, as I said it will probably end up being the usual stuff. Some treebranches will snap off, several trees will snap or get unrooted and some roof tiles will be blown of the roofs.Just a slight breeze, no big deal.

Dude, they can barely predict whats going to happen with a hurricane a week in advance, I wouldn't sweat it for some "superstorm" thats may or may not hit you almost 3 weeks from now. Its either scare tactics, or Holland has some super weather computer that is needed for the gulf coast of the US.

hmm while this is still a few days out there is a nasty low pressure on its way to the north sea which may produce a storm surge. Keep an eye on the forecast for the next few days and things will become clearer. But do keep an eye out as the position predicted of the storm is a bit odd and the timing does coincide with a high tide.

true......after finding out as much as you can bang the closest oraphis you see and yell
"FOR THE HORD!!!!"

Well if shit does hit the fan, I think I'll just stay with my parents for a bit who live in the east of the country, where it's slightly higher :P.

Remember that big storm from last year (or was that still this year)?

Unrooted trees piercing through parked car windshields, people falling flat on their ass because of the wind, cars nearly being blown from the highway.

Yeah...that was awesome.

hey.

i'm from new orleans, and did a study (for a fluid mechanics class) on your dam system. my professor was one of the guys who toured the area with the politicians who went, b/c he had to tell the politicians if it was good or not.

trust me, you'll be fine. its an incredible system.

Yeah well, it was built right after something similar to New Orleans happened over here. So it better work.

Man, I love these kind of storms. I spent most of my day outside when there was a storm last year, and, if that prediction would be right, it's very close to my birthday. Awesome birthday gift, then!

I live at the Dutch coast so I'm wondering if this'll cause the sea level to rise and shit. On the other hand, we had warnings of storms and other stuff in the past, but nothing happened. Our dam system is solid, if not spectacular.

Our country is basicly build with the rivers and lake's in mind. There was a huge flood in 1956 I believe. That's when they came up with the Delta Works, a huge system of floodgates and dam's to make sure nothing like that would ever happen again. It's been tested quite a few times, although not at full capacity so I hope we'll manage.

YOU'RE GOING TO DIE!!!!!!!!!!

No, seriously, you're going to be fine. Belgium on the other hand is fucked. I predict inevitable floodings and they won't be declared disaster areas BECAUSE WE DONT HAVE FUCKING GOVERNMENT TO DECLARE THEM!!! *shakes fist in air*
