Wondering what you guys think. I'm looking at buying a surround system and am highly considering this. I don't know enough so figured you guys might be able to help out.

It sure is a lot of speakers and a lot of money. Do you have the ability to place all these speakers in the proper places and run all the wires?

In my experience it’s better to go with high quality speakers and sub separately from an all in one kit…see if you can find any reviews specific to this kit. We had a Sony 5.1 kit when I was in high school and while it was loud, it definitely had an underpowered sub and terrible mids. The one you linked definitely looks higher quality (speaker size does matter) but I’m always skeptical of kits.

I personally haven't looked at any top mounted atmos systems as I plan to put them in the ceiling.

Do you have a Sony TV with the center channel capability?

If I had that capability in my TV and and couldn't put speakers in my ceiling I'd get the Sony HT-A9 and a subwoofer.

I'll have to double check. I bought the Sony a80k 77in oled last year

Definitely have the room. Would be a little annoying with the wiring but I can manage it. Everything looks good in the bundle, just nervous there is something I could be missing since not the most knowledgeable

I say go for it. Amazon has such a great return policy, that even if you regret anything at all, you can return it or try out something else.
I used Amazon when I bought my last projector, and it was nice to be able to demo the unit before committing to it. I ended up returning one projector and buying another thanks to the option.

If you're going to make such a substantial purchase I recommend getting well versed in this area. I did a bunch of research back in the day and put together a system for like $500 that sounds pretty great. But it was 5.1. it's also fun to learn and put it together

When starting to get in to AV its always worth thinking about what you want to achieve. Do you want atmos and have you got a suitable layout for it. Whats the maximum setup you can accommodate? How loud will you be listening (important for power requirements). Do you want it for stereo music playback, if so what sources (cd, turntable etc) will you be using?

The sony amp seems to get good reviews, but cant see much on the speakers. For the amp it has no preouts so if you find it lacking powerwise, you can't add any external amps, nor can you integrate a stereo amp (this is important if you want to have decent stereo as well as a surround system). The more speakers you have the more power you need, hence the ability to add extra amplification is always handy.

Agree with @Thaedolus about packages. I would be looking for speakers from dedicated speaker manufacturers (US has a lot of very good options). For a sub, these can be from a different brand, but I would be looking at a specialised brand, e.g. for US, SVS are very highly regarded (also their speakers), monoprice subs are also excellent.

At the end of the day, it all boils down to what your end goal is. If you just want a simple surround setup with minimal fuss and low costs then a package will work, but will it give you a better system than finding better speakers and sub separately, very unlikely. I would try and find an independent dealer and build a package with them, as you will be able to mix and match and try and get a deal. Also if they are local you will be able to hear it, whilst also be able to ask them questions.

Before you do anything it might be worth having a read on avs forums (it is US based), as they have a wealth of knowledge and they will be able to provide guidance/help.

Looks good to me if your place can accommodate it. I have the predecessor to that receiver, and it has served me well. I've heard those sony speakers are great for the money. I think chepaudioman on YouTube reviewed them and liked them a lot. Check the reviews. Youtube and avsforum can be a good source.
