So I didn't find any thread about this game.

It's an episodic point'n'click that you can play directly into your browser. For now there's only 2 episodes out of 5, first one is free, 13€/18$ for the full game which should be complete in August.

The game is a tradtionnal adventure game with riddles, dialogues and such. The art is gorgeous with modelling clay-style for the characters, the music is great and contributes to the intriguing atmosphere and most importantly the writing is top notch. It's been nominated for the IGF's audience award. I loved the first two episodes and I can't wait to play more. Go try this, GAF.

Bookmarked for tomorrow (well, later today).

I hope Amanita Design's next game is a PnC title. They really nailed everything that's awesome about the genre with Machinarium, with my only complaint being the length.

Indeed... I need more Amanita point 'n' click goodness! Machinarium was my favorite game released in 2009.

Intriguing style. If it wasn't clear from the OP, the models and backgrounds are actually made with real life materials, clay and cardboard etc, then recorded and integrated into the game.

Actually I didn't know that. That's neat !

wtf there was a thread on that.

that game is A MUST BUY. Everyone who loves point and click should go to their site and start playing right now.

"I already dig myself" lol

Thread needs screenshots and the developers need to release the complete pack on Steam.

Done. And it's a browser game only for now so I don't see how they could submit it to steam.

It's good, with great (and real!) animation and very good music. I e-mailed them to ask for a soundtrack, but they never returned my message. *frown*

bumped it again for more clicks

if you consider yourself a fan of point-n-click you should go to their site and play it.

Puzzles are nice and "clean", music and art style are awesome. GO!

I always think of the Happy Machine from Genius Party when I hear about this, even though they look nothing like, and probably have nothing in common.

This has been in my "to check" list, but I have not tried it yet. And I'm not that fond of the idea of buying a game and having to play it on a website; I'd rather have a file to download (and keep)...but I know that if I like this I'll bite anyway.

It's Flash-based, so it could be just like Machinarium (which is also Flash).

They don't, but it's totally 1 of my favorite animated shorts ever and is a great game premise!

I somehow managed to lose the bookmark, so I completely forgot about this. Bought the bundle last night after reading a bunch of positive reviews (for fellow Aussies, it's approximately $19) and played through Chapter 1 and a bit of Chapter 2.

The puzzles are rather straight-forward, however the art style and ambient music are simply amazing. I can't comment on the story as I'm assuming I've just reached the point where it begins to take form, although the writing as a whole seems to be quite good.

Anybody else snap this up?

Bought it back in January, and it's one of my favorite games of the year so far. It's pretty simple, but the game is so well done for what it is. The art is great, and the puzzles are pretty much doable without a walkthrough, which makes it a game I like to play.

I really really wish they could be more specific about dates for the other episodes, but hopefully they will just email us when the next episode is live.

(is the official OT, or should someone throw together a more fanciful one? It's a great game that really deserves to be played by more people, especially since episode 1 is free)

Agreed.

Yeah, I noticed on the website that they've mentioned Chapter 3 taking longer than they had anticipated.

It's more of a de-facto OT at this point. If the OP weren't banned this thread could've been re-purposed. I'd put together a nice OT if the skills were present. :p

It looks great, but isn't it a 'rip-off' from that old 'Edgar Allan Poe' based/inspired adventure game that was released on Mac and PC in the mid 90's? I forgot the name.. but the art/setting/lighting is almost exactly the same.

Edit: I mean 'The Dark Eye', http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Dark_Eye_(video_game)

It is definitely inspired by.

I thought you meant The Neverhood, becasue of the clay style

Someone do an official OT!

Just finished Chapter 2, and as I suspected the story kicked off and became awesome. Adored the art style of
the dreamscape
.

I hope Chapter 3 isn't too far away.

I enjoyed the first two episodes, but this is episodic gaming done wrong. I'm not sure they could have taken another approach (maybe they need the money), but releasing episodes at random intervals with months in between isn't really beneficial for your project.

I might as well wait until all five episodes have been released now. I'm sure I'll enjoy the game and its story more that way as the episodes aren't really self-contained.

Still, I don't have any qualms about handing over my money, since the game is worth it.

They've taken the Valve approach. :p Seriously, though, as you suggest it's likely a matter of funding. I'm sure the duo would've preferred to release the game whole if that were a realistic option.

Bump time! The folks intend to release the next instalment very soon:

We've updated the page with some spicy new information: most excitingly an early October release date for Chapter 3. And is if that wasn't enough, we're also releasing a small update to the engine:

Engine: Removed bug that caused 'Examine undefined' to briefly appear when handling objects.

I don't mind paying now and then playing them as they come out, but paypal doesn't like my prepaid credit. :(

They do have a steam button, so maybe steam should get it....

I ONLY just noticed that Chapter 3 went up on 31st October, started playing it and the story has got even more strange, really enjoying it.

Never heard of this but I was a huge fan of the old point and click adventures and this looks reasonable messed up for me to love. Thanks

Oh, awesome! I assumed they would send out an e-mail to announce its release, but apparently not.

They claim they did, but I didn't get one either.

While the game is getting more and more interesting, I feel like some of the puzzle design is starting to more and more lean towards the "because I said so" and not make any logical sense anymore. There were a few moments in Episode 2 and there are more of them in 3. I just hope that is due to the guys being pressed to launch Episode 3, and had to cut a few corners here and there.

(also - is this the OT for this game, or can there be made a real one that keeps updates on the episodes and so on?)

I've been thinking for some time now about using life materials in a game of my own so
I'm gonna definitly check this out.

It's a de facto OT by virtue of it being the only thread on the game. Make a proper one if you'd like. The OP being banned since July limits the ability to repurpose this thread.

I just picked this game up too. I love the art style. I just started chapter 2 and it's definitely getting weirder. I have no time to make an OT though, unfortunately.

Developer has said if you had already purchased entire series from website (way back then) they will email a steam code for full season to you. Pretty neat and good to have a copy of the game rather than playing from website.
Game is pretty good only played chapter 1 & 2, got wee bit stuck on chapter 3 but story certainly is getting stranger and stranger.

Great. :) I haven't gotten around to playing Ch. 3 yet; the game showing up in my Library should do the trick.

I think I may just play through the game from the beginning considering it's been two years.

It didn't do the trick. ;)
