my brother actually has a pair of the Huaraches and they kick ASS for playing basketball. Probably the most comfortable shoe i've worn. I do, however own Kobe's first two shoes with Adidas (the last pair of bball shoes i've bought, i still wear the Elevation to play) before he actually had his own signature name shoe. huarache is spanish for a sandal. pronounced "WAR-AH-CHE", though i don't know if thats what Nike was going for, maybe they have their own meaning. I think it was the name of a basketball shoe they had back in the 80s, so with this whole "retro" kick they seem to be on, they must have decided to bring them back.

I don't feel safe playing in the 2k4 huaraches unless I wear ankle braces as well and those are a bother for me. The lightness of the shoes make them very comfy to play in but they're an ankle sprain waiting to happen. I don't even fukk around and use them if we're running full court. Unless you're taping up, I wouldn't recommend high intensity play in those >_< The 2k5's look a bit sturdier though
