We're just a few weeks shy of H&D's tenth anniversary and in honor of this, let's all give it a go. I had this game for DC back in the day, but the controls were way too unwieldy using the L trigger and Start as button modifiers, there was no good way to play it. Luckily I had the keyboard which made it a lot more tolerable, but nothing beats playing with mouse and keyboard which I found out today.
For whatever reason I was thinking of H&D last night so I did a little research. It turns out there were a few expansions and even a sequel. In fact, as a way to gain interest, the devs released Hidden and Dangerous Deluxe (the first game + expansions + map editor) absolutely free! I've been playing for the past few hours and already got much farther than I ever did on DC thanks to the better controls and the ability to save anywhere at any time. If you've never played H&D, heres a bit of background.
Each campaign has 3 or more scenarios and theres a good amount of campaigns. At the start of the campaign, you choose 10 soldiers from a large pool and at the start of each scenario you choose 4 of them to play as. If anyone dies, they are dead for good, and you will have that many less guys to choose from for your next scenario. Lose all 10 and it's back to the beginning. You also choose your weapons and ammo at the beginning of the campaign, its best to make sure you have enough rifles and ammo to last the whole campaign, so don't go crazy with bazookas and sniper rifles as you do have a weight limit.wiki said:The player controls a four-man British Special Air Service (SAS) team executing a number of important sabotage and/or rescue missions during World War II. The game takes a realistic approach, where the player must use stealth for the most part to complete the objectives. The player also has a large variety of weapons and equipment, ranging from sniper rifles, to bazookas, to sub machine guns. The player can also drive vehicles.
The game itself plays in both 3rd and 1st person perspectives. At any time you can switch to one of your 4 men and you can even issue squad commands to travel together or have someone wait behind. Goals are typically killing all enemies, blowing stuff up, rescuing prisoners and stealing intel etc... Each character has their own strengths and weaknesses, so arm them accordingly. Every thing about this game requires a lot of thought and strategy don't be surprised if you fail miserably at first. It may take an hour or so to even get the controls down but don't get discouraged. Fans of the genre are sure to love this game start to finish.

System requirements: Pentium-166MMX or equivalent, 16 MB RAM, 4X CD-ROM, 2 MB VRAM, 10 MB disk space, sound card, DirectX 6.
So really, everyone should be able to play this game at max. Also, there are apparently a ton of player mods that I am going to explore once I finish the stock game.
