Take me out to the ball game! MLB 2025-2026 Season chatter.

I am getting back into baseball after some years away. I am a NY Yankees fan, but I'm not an asshole about it lol. More on that later.

I used to know stats, rosters, prospects, etc., in various sports. Those things are all still cool, but I mostly just enjoy the sport these days.

Man, Shohei Ohtani is something else. He just hit a first pitch walkoff homerun in the bottom of the ninth to win the game. The Dodgers are now the first defending champion in MLB history to start the next season 8-0. Dude is the real deal.

And it was his bobblehead night lol

Its early but Jays doing better than I thought. If the vets can get back to playing well (Bo and Springer), Vlad does similar as he does, Santander does decent, and the pitching staff can actually be consistently decent, they might make the playoffs.

A lot of things have to go right. But considering how bad the hitting and BP were last year, it almost seems impossible for it to be that bad (or worse) again. So it should only go up from here.

I'm not a Yanks fan (obviously). But I always check the boxscore as I want to see how good Judge did that game. WTF? 3 homers and 8 rbis? Sounds crazy. But it's Judge so not that surprising! I also like seeing how good trending down vets do as Yanks always seem to like signing them (Texheira, Donadson,, Goldschmidt kind of guys etc..)

As for Ohtani, I went to the game he played against Jays last year. What a laugher. Ohtani homered, Dodgers destroyed and it was so bad Jays put in a batter to pitch the 9th. I also called to my buddy Muncy would homer his AB and be bombed one over the fence! It was a crazy sold out game. People loved Ohtani.

Most who know me likely know I am sort of a Baseball nerd myself :)

Was in LA and attended the Dodgers first few home games and yeah Ohtani is amazing and if I am being honest I wish he would never pitch again and just hit

I just do not want to see pitching possibly take away from his career ABs.

Othani and Judge are two of the greatest players ever to play this game. We better fucking appreciate what they do every fucking week. We wont see that again.

Love the Torpedo bats. The hitters needed an edge that has been missing from this game ever since they took out the juiced balls after the 2019 season. The game is so boring now with pitchers using spider tack, and new mechanics to add 5-10 mph on their pitches. Hitters didnt have access to any of that new stuff and if torpedo bats give them that edge, im all for it.

Of course, they have struck out 15 times in the last two games so they still have to make contact for the torpedo bats to work, but i think good hitters will figure this out.

Cashman loves to do this and it has never worked out. Texeira was actually young when he signed. Donaldson, Goldschmidt, Ichiro, Matt Holiday, Rizzo were all well past their prime and sucked. Watch them trade for Nolan Arenado later in the season.

Yankees performance defensively in last years playoffs is still amusing to think about. The torpedo bats are interesting, I think gloves are next for modifications, baseball has been around forever and it feels fresh. Anyway I don’t know what to make of my Cleveland Guardians, they have to win the division, KC Royals are tough, Sox and Tigers have upside. Someone has to figure out the Dodgers, I know the padres have but lack the depth chart.

The torpedo yankees are at it again. Homering like never before. I wonder how long before the league takes notice and bans these bats or adopts them.

Judge has 5 HR in 6 games to start the season and he's not even using torpedo bats. Could this new bat be the key to beat Bond's record?

Angels fan here, will be going to the home opener today.

The pitch clock , 3 batter minimum, shift ban has greatly revived my interest in MLB. The game just feels more fresh with these much needed rule changes.

It kind of bums me out because I love watching him pitch but I have to agree. He is about to turn 31, hasn't pitched in nearly 2 years and has already undergone multiple significant elbow surgeries.

I don't think it's a coincidence that his production as a hitter (and baserunner) has exploded since he's been forced to devote his attention to offense exclusively.

If anything it almost makes more sense for him to play the outfield (at times at least) than it does for him to pitch again. I'm not sure if he ever did it for the Angels but I've seen him do it occasionally for the Fighters and he looked very steady and natural every time. Small sample of course but at least I don't remember any egregiously bad angles taken or heaven forbid any Manny Ramirez-style car accidents. Odds are he'd give them some nice defensive value without taxing his arm too much or cutting into his production at the plate, all while freeing up the DH spot.

There was a thread about why the word retarded made a comeback. Well this is why.

Yankees started verdugo over Grishman and their number 1 prospect Dominguez all season and throughout the postseason. He started every game and did nothing as usual. He was so bad that despite making $9 million in 2024, he was not signed by any team until the end of Spring training when the Braves signed him to a minor league contract. Yes, a guy good for playing the minor leagues started all postseason and world series games with the Yankees last year.

Yankees front office and their retarded manager are a joke.
