Take Two announce Xbox GTA:San Andreas

Not if you value your eye sight!

Solid frame rate get! :D

I know many people didn't have a problem with the SA frame rate, but the fluctuation killed my eyes.

I'm a little dissapointented that it's coming out so late for PC. Wasn't Vice City for PC out like 4 months after the PS2 release? IF I don't give in and purchase the PS2 version I'm picking it up for PC for sure.

It'll be interesting to have them both Xbox version vs. PS2 version on HD and see the differences...

And they finally look to have the SEC off of their back, to the tune of $7.5M (currently an offer by TTWO, not the final word)

Fourth quarter 2004 net income of $62.6 million and diluted net income per share of $1.36 compared to net income of $26.3 million and diluted net income per share of $0.58 the prior year.

Mr Pachter is still optimistic about T2 in spite of the earnings shortfall:

"There was nothing bad in this call," said Michael Pachter, an analyst at Wedbush Morgan Securities. "The SEC settlement is a phenomenal result."

But Pachter chastised the company on a conference call for not committing to a share buyback and for declining to say exactly how many units its blockbuster game "Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas" had sold. (Reuters)

I'm glad I waited for this games release on other platforms. Heres hoping they fix the frame rate and maybe enhance the visuals some for the Xbox, cause I know for sure my PC would give me an evil look if I dare approached it with this game.

It's too bad the PC version is coming out so late. I played SA on the PS2 recently, and I was constantly thinking about how much better this will look on the PC.

All the Xbox needs is a stable 30 frames per second, and no annoying glitches (the mute ped glitch in Vice City is inexusable) I'm so there. Besides the S is much more comfy than the Dual Shock.

Seriously though, this makes me a happy Xbox owner, seeing how my roommate (who owns a PS2) doesn't play GTA games.

This shouldn't stop you. If your roomie has a PS2, you should buy yourself some PS2 games and use his system. I'd buy GC games long before I bought a GC for myself since there was a GC in there. But since the XBox GTA:SA announcement, I guess this would be a wasted investment. So this was a wasted post and....

How 'bout those Bulls?

that must be them.
why the hell is MS selling all their first party? first party is very important. there's almost nobody left except bungie and rare.

Maybe MS knows something we don't? Like X2 will be seeing huge leaps in 3rd party support so having PAM and others like them isn't required. It's just a guess but the way I see it is this. PS3 won't have a huge graphical advantage over X2 if any at all, X2 is launching first so 3rd parties and such are quite tempted to start next gen dev. X2 has garnered great 3rd party support for launch and is extremely confident about a PS2 like library.

In other words, maybe the roles are about to be reversed?

Just as I thought, Sony probably had the exclusivity timed so that GTA:SA on Xbox would coincide with Xbox 2 release, stealing just a little extra thunder from it in the Xbox community.

Sony you sly like fox, tricksy like hobbits.

I have them all too (for pretty much the same reasons).
I'm not trying to bash your purchase choices here, but you guys do realize that there are other videogames out there.

(you can ignore this if you're rich)

Who says I don't play other games? San Andreas is probably not even going to be my game of the year.

Well, I just look at the 4 needless copies of the same games as money that could be spent elsewhere. Dumb thing to argue I guess, but I just couldn't possibly rationalize it myself.

Not like I bought them all at once. Considering how badly the GTA series runs on the PS2, trading up for a better version is easily justified for fans of the series. Although buying the xbox versions when I already had the pc versions was probably not as justified (wanted the graphic enhancments plus the series controls better with a gamepad IMO).

I'll be getting the PC version, thanks.

It's also interesting how this seems to be 'business as usual' while the news of an RE4 port is somehow the death blow to the GC.

I think XBox is going to outsell the PS2 into 2005 don't you think? They got a crapload of momentum right now. Funny how things change like that.

Well, considering the fact that PS2 supply is extremely limited right now (nice going, Sony), that's a safe bet to take. It's like Christmas 2000 all over again in some areas.

Sold!

Now all I need is MGS3!!!

*crosses fingers

If only more than 5 people had actually bought MGS2:S on the XBox, this would have been oh-so-possible.

You can't give that game away to XBox owners, which is rather puzzling.

IIRC around 200k in US, so I would *guess* around 300k worldwide. They probably made pretty good profit from the Xbox port.

Sounds good, that’s about what i expected

looks good for a MGS3 port then

Thanks

The deal for MGS: Substance on XBox was signed prior to the XBox even coming out IIRC, and Konami really hasn't been so hot on the XBox since supporting it early (I believe in the book "Opening the XBox", Konami's president even went off on the head of Microsoft Games Japan calling him an "idiot" :lol ). I don't know if you'll see a MGS3 port.

Porting one of their major franchises, PES/WE to Xbox, giving it online exclusivity is not "being hot?" ;)

I think chances are that we'll see a MGS3 port on Xbox, soon or later.

the nintendo fan in me cries

I've been wondering how a GC port could work anyway considering the disk space. With all the huge areas and the tons of music, I can't imagine disc switching with that game unless they come up with something. I've always wanted to play one of the GTA's on a Nintendo console though, just because.

I wish! GTA3 and VC both were released sometime in May for pc. It sucks having to wait so long for the ports.

I just hope SA comes with an SDK this time so we can get some really cool new models and mods.

Xbox 2 isn't coming out next June.

wow, that was quick. already getting the ports in june? wow. that's such an easy wait. just a few months and a ton of AAA holiday titles to play through to hold you off anyhow. forget the buggy poor framerate PS2 version. Xbox with the hard drive and better sound and graphics in just a few months BIAAATCH. ;) imagine if they had Xbox Live support ::shock and fucking awe!:: :D
