Part of article:

Publisher Take Two Interactive has approached a number of sports leagues in the hope of securing longer licensing agreements, according to company president Paul Eibeler, although no deals have been reached as yet.

Speaking at a Smith Barney investment conference in the USA, Eibeler said that his company, which publishes the ESPN sports range, is "asking the other leagues and talking to the other leagues about longer-term commitments."

There ya go Take Two... fight back.

Well they better if they plan to spend the money to buy Visual Concepts from Sega. There's no point in them buying VC if in a year or two they can't make any licensed sports titles.

Thet need to put all efforts into securing the NBA license.

Well... it's either that or MLB. FIFA is spoken for, as is NASCAR. That's it for relevant mass-market sports.

If Take-Two gets the license, they need to add that "in the stands" option for 2K6. Nothing's more satisfying after getting blown out on the road than to go up and take it out on some fans. :lol

as long as they keep that NHL license

NHL? What's that? Isn't that the hockey league that folded this year?

Canada might be able to weather this lockout, but the USA has already moved on. There's no longer an American market for a hockey game.

I'd be first in line for the game if they had something like that in 2K6.:lol

New York State laughs at your folly.

is this an EA-like conquest or is Take-Two seeking a licensing deal that just spans several years? i'm not sure that Take-Two would put up the capital to shut out the competition like EA did, but at the very least they look to be willing to make sure they have a grip on the market at least for now.

It sounds like they want to make sure there are no more exclusive deals from EA by signing multi-year contracts with the other leagues.
