Tales of Xillia Remaster Apparently Accidentally Confirmed (Official Announcement on August 18th)

It looks as though Bandai Namco may have just inadvertently confirmed a Tales of Xillia remaster, if a thumbnail for an upcoming YouTube premiere is anything to go by.

As spotted by X user Lowedelta, the YouTube thumbnail for an impending news video about the Tales series shows a screenshot from Tales of Xillia, depicting several of the game's characters having a conversation in one of its skits.

This, as Shona points out, may well be an error on Bandai Namco's part; rather than choosing a custom thumbnail for the livestream, the studio may instead have opted to allow YouTube to choose one, and the one it picked is from partway through the video.

It's not clear whether the potential remaster will include only the first game or Tales of Xillia 2 as well, and we also don't know whether this will be the only project announced during the premiere or whether a brand new Tales game will be revealed too.

Either way, the video premieres on August 18th, so we won't have to wait too long to find out. It's a premiere, too, rather than a livestream, so you shouldn't have to wade through too much pre-announcement banter.

I'd love to see these games make a comeback - I thought they were both great, though they were late PS3 releases that I doubt too many people got around to playing.

Nothing life changing, and I'd rank them below Vesperia, but they were both a good bit of weeb-y fun.

Vesperia has been my favorite one so far but I haven't even played half of the games. Vesperia though I played through twice, wanted to get the plat but that shit is way to hardcore.

I actually finished this one, it was fun but no desire to play it again really.

Series is starting to get stuck in remaster purgatory like so many these days, they need to announce something new.

They have to get to Destiny DC, Rebirth and Destiny 2 asap. The xillias are good (really good in the case of ToX2) but those are the best and remain jap exclusives.

Fuck it.

I'm just gonna bust out my PS2 copy and use an HD texture mod on PCSX2.

Namco is never gonna remaster Abyss at this rate, or not within this decade at least.

The Tales Of series hasn't really been worthwhile since Vesperia. I know that some say Berseria is decent, but I never bothered trying it after the previous misses they released. If Bamco was smart they'd be putting resources towards developing full on remakes of the original entries starting with Phantasia. Essentially, they should just copy what Falcom is doing with Trails in the Sky FC. Both of these franchises were pretty niche, even during the PS2 gen, so remakes will be plenty of player's first experience with these games.

Hopefully it's better handled then the last remasters in the series.
Getting fucked over by alvin for the 100th time in a remaster ?, ehhh i dont know

I stopped reading after this part

Why Xillia, though?

Is it a fan favorite?
Did it sell exceedingly well?
Both Xillia games were excellent and both are currently exclusive to PS3. Interestingly, they removed both games from the digital PS3 store a while ago so many of us assumed this was coming.

Zillia and Zillia 2 are probably my favorite of the series I have played. Do I have time to play them again though? Not really. I am getting tired of remasters. They always tend to make something worse, while improving the graphics.

Ironically this is the one I wanted remastered, it's in my hall of shame.
I own limited edition version of it.... other games were out at the time and I never got back to it.

Beat the first and bought the second one on ps3 when it came out. Never got around to it and now I don't want to hook up the ps3. Maybe it X2 will get a remaster as well?
