It’s the original cast + the cast of Afterlife and set in NYC.

I was wondering when this would surface. I thought it was supposed to come out this year? Christmas theme or something with the ice?

Is Ghostbusters a big name in the movie industry? It's always been a modest box office draw at best and aside from the first two movies hasn't been well received. I remember the trailer from Afterlife when Bill Murray says "Did you miss us?" and I was like not really mate, I would have much rather you stayed in the 80s and died a hero's death instead of being revived.

I was extremely disappointed with Afterlife. I found it really dull and not funny at all.

However, this one might be better because it actually might have more of the original cast. Part of the problem with Afterlife was that it was all about the kids with a very short cameo by the original cast.

The other problem was it was just the villain returning from the first movie instead of something original.

What makes Ghostbusters such a great franchise is Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, the late Harold Ramis and Ernie Hudson.

In my opinion, the third Ghostbusters was the official video game that came out about 10 years or so ago. That game was awesome.

That's a shame. It's going to feel forced, especially with one of the bigger characters Egon not being able to show up.
The last movie explains how they’re back. Winston took the Ecto-1 back to NYC and re-opened the fire house.

Wait what? How is this the first time I hear about this? Is it a special or really a full movie?
Full sequel. Picks up after the credits scene in Afterlife

I see what you're saying but at least they're going to bring back the original cast where it's more than just a cameo. To me Ghostbusters was mostly about the cast and without them, it just doesn't feel like Ghostbusters to me

It was just one of the many reasons I was very disappointed with Afterlife.

I love Ghostbusters 1&2, there is alot of love and craftsmanship in every scene, the writing and character dialogue kept you engaged, i was looking forward to seeing afterlife because i was told it felt like the OG series. Unfortunately it was nothing more then a another souless cash grab I felt like my intelligence and life experience was insulted by watching this garbage.

Millennials, please stop paying to see this shit,.its fucking Garbage. I seriously feel like we are in a cultural deline. /Rant

Afterlife was a fine one-and-done but I don't need any more of that cast in another movie. Actually, this probably shouldn't even be made.

Did not care for Afterlife at all. No humor, identical ending to GB 1, child genius prodigy to circumvent any character work, and callback after callback all soulless. Please stop!!!
This so much. In fact I don't know why people like Afterlife so much. I thought it was very boring, very unfunny and took exactly the same villain from the original but without any charisma whatsoever.

Even the video game sequel had a much better story which returns the original villain but did it in a twist. This new movie just sucked beyond belief. I was extremely disappointed especially after hearing so many people liked it.

i mean from what we know it's got paul rudd, who was quite underutilized in afterlife, so Paul Rudd doing wacky ghost hijinks will be fun.

just keep the 2016 GB faaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaar away from anything. just erase that shitheap for good.

Just move it past any old villains and nostalgia bating. We know Peck is back and Rudd has been spotted in a jump suit and it is primarily set in New York.

You can’t be serious. The original was the highest grossing comedy for a long time, and quite possibly one of the most perfect movies ever made.

They're really old now but I guess they can do one last thing if they get it filmed pretty quickly. Bill Murray doesn't exactly look that healthy nowadays.
Pft. Bill Murray getting it in with the Milkshake girl now. Hes probably younger than the rest of us peasants.

Oh they’ve tried to erase it. They released a boxed set of 1-3 (super limited edition, love mine) that includes EVERYTHING including the 2 hour 45 minute TEST screening cut of the first movie. The set didn’t include the 2016 STD, so the Era types flipped an epic fit calling Sony sexist bigots for erasing the movie.

Hahaha good. Fuck that lot those weirdos...

It really brings down the quality.

Meanwhile 2 and afterlife are essentially fine 🤷‍♂️ and entertaining. Certainly not nearly as good as the first but it doesn't act aa a shit stain on the brand like 2016

Youtube auto played a Casey neistat video from two days ago, and they were filming in NYC while the city was covered in a Haze from the fires in Canada. I guess that's as good a time as any for a spooky environment without CG

Starts at the 122 mark

I liked Afterlife, it’s not a great movie but it respected the original movies and characters enough.

Interested to see what direction this new movie goes.

I absolutely loved how they dealt with Harold Ramis in Afterlife, legit made me tear up.

The rest of the film was fine at best, but I loved that entire scene so much.

If they step it up a bit, this could end up great, the last one had its heart in the right place.

2 is still legit hilarious. Suffers from being a retread of the original in a lot of ways, but so many scenes still crack me up. Especially the Egon bits. RIP.

The last one went off the rails a little. But I still enjoyed it, and the continuity with the original two makes the next one a must see for me.

Funny enough though, I hear the IDW Comics keep them canon and had a parallel universe crossover with the OG Ghostbusters. IIRC it was decently received, probably because IDW seems to know how to handle their comic franchises well like Sonic the Hedgehog and such so they must have salvaged the 2016 characters to at least some degree.

Hell, there’s probably a comic or something out there that made even Scrappy Doo tolerable (as in a good guy, the funny reveal of him being a psycho bad guy in the live action movie was a different direction obviously).

Peck, Gooberman in a flight suit and Ernie Hudson looking like he's time travelled from 84. Dude just doesn't age.

I thought Afterlife was OK. I hated the ending with Gozer, the fanservice stuff like the marshmallows - as a fan, I didn't feel... ....serviced. I would have much preferred originality.

But I thought there was stuff to like in there for sure. I assume the original cast members will do small support roles again, but tbh, I'm surprised they are doing anything, I thought the last film was them agreeing to pass the torch, but I guess the kids need another movie or two to take over fully, and that Paul Rudd will be passed over.

TBH, I think all the films have positives, even the shunned reboot.

I'll almost certainly go see this at the cinema.

I really liked Afterlife

Did it have issues? Sure. The new cast wasn't great (expect who they got to play Egon's granddaughter as that was perfect)

But I think they wanted to lean heavy on fanservice after....a past failed attempt.
