Is it just me or does the stop motion look extremely fluid here? I was just watching the old Wallace and Gromit shorts last week but even with like Paranorman I don't recall seeing stop motion ever look so smooth?

Aardman made massive improvements over the years. The result of unparalled experience, improv of tech and more money.

Have they gone back to claymation or was this CG? I remember them saying they were done with claymation.

Early Man’ is a stop-frame feature film by BAFTA and Academy Award winning director, Nick Park, produced by Aardman. Supported by accomplished screenwriters Mark Burton and John O’Farrell this new film will take audiences into a dramatic prehistoric world and unleash an unforgettable cast of hilarious new characters. It is also Park’s first feature film since Academy Award winning ‘Wallace & Gromit: The Curse of the Were-rabbit’.

They purchased a American studio to branch out, which mostly does ads with CGI. Thats it.
