these are standard japanese cabinets.

in america its gonna look like the traditional shitty shit jamma crap.

Finally bought a new PSP, but then pushed the demon onto someone else. Jesus.
It has native 16:9 support built in? The plasma image doesn't look stretched at all. I'm one of the few that thinks the game is very pretty.

I was kinda hoping they'd add a block button this time around. Still can't wait to hear how it turned out though. Hopefully the rumors of them taking alot of notes from VF4 are true.

Nice setup, but I'd rather have the American cabinet. Y'know, the one where you're standing shoulder to shoulder with some big meatball, getting ready to kick his ass with a little girl.

'tis all part of the experience.

Namco's too cheap to put seats on the cabinets? Give me JAMMA any day instead of what they've got set up in those pics

I'm 6ft 225lbs and I do not fit under those arcade cabinets. After about a half hour of playing my legs start cramping up on me and my knees are pressed into the undercarage of the arcade stick.

They aren't all that...I still prefer them to the US style though, bumping elbows sucks.

I would assume these picks are from the private showing Namco is having (or has it already passed?). The beta was this past weekend, but they only had one machine, and they didn't allow any pics, so this isn't from that.

Reports from the beta were that the full widescreen cabinet setup for Tekken 5 would run $30,000 and $5,000 for the board alone. IMO both of those figures must be off, especially since you can get Initial D Version 3 Dual Cabinet for $15,000 and it's brand new.

I do like the widescreens etup though... oh yes. Hopefully the standard US cabinets will also be widescreen.

And even i am moderately surprised

Arcade game prices usually have nothing to do with the actual cost of the hardware/dev, but is more inline with how much coin the machine is expected to take.

Anyways, Mak Japan arcade supplier has the full Tekken 5 kit (2 pcb kits, 2 net cities, 4 signal converters, 1 live monitor (?) , router cables and 200 info cards for....

Available from November.

3,129,000 yen = around $28,500 a set.
So, as long as each unit gets played 15,000 times, then arcade owners will get their cash back ;)

PCB kit is liksted at 522,900 yen (1 board only)

Hmmm... over 20 characters - some time released.
Hmmm.... Ghost Character system. Looks like you upload your "ghost" to fight others?
And doesn't it say System 256 at the bottom??

The "live monitor," sez Game Watch, is evidently a 42" 16x9 plasma screen that plugs into the linked cabs. It plays back versus matches for the audience, and apparently they're also gonna use it to display some of the network info shit, like tournament news and leaderboards and things.

Hey DFS! Hows tricks?

Yeah, i read as much as i could of the explaination on that poster with out my eyes falling out :)

I might check out Ikebukero a bit more and see if they are trialing ...

...okay , that's just an excuse to go to one of the seedier parts of Tokyo... ;)

Ikebukuro's not _that_ seedy. Although it does have the best gay cartoon porn selection I've ever found.

oh, Ikebukero has some very interesting places if you know where to go.

I can show you next time your here? ;) It's not all it seems...

... although you can say that about just about anywhere in Tokyo! Even seemingly innocent Gotanda...

I know business must be hard, but we play futsal there , the place we play has no showers. I've been offered "services" even AFTER playing for 2 hours.... I must have stank.

Anyways... this has nothing to do with Tekken! ;)

DCharlie... After further investigation I've heard that the PCB kit version includes 2 cabinets and 1 PCB. Is this also what the poster says?

I'm trying to determine the rough cost of the PCB alone for the US market since it's unlikely to be offered with two cabinets like the supposed Japanese PCB kit.

Also... do you know if Mak Japan ships to the US by chance? ^_^

It's not supposed to release until Late November and I'm unaware of any other beta tests after the two this past week, so I don't know if you'll find it anywhere before the end of the year.

The US public beta and press beta should be coming up soon though. I can't wait for that! Both betas should be held in Chicago, but there are rumors that T5 may show up at Evo2k4 in Cali later this month. ^_^

They do not. Not even a single PCB, though they were once willing to do that. Unfortunately they stopped a few years back. :(
