I think it looks great. T5 really impressed me but I doubt I'd bother with this unless it was a budget game, or the difference was similar to VF4>VF4: Evo

Great atmosphere in this shot...would be perfect for other games...Diablo 3 (probably because it reminds me of the intro for Diablo 1), or a new Castlevania. :D

I think a lot of PS2 titles look better than this.

oh god shut up!!! Tekken 5 is the best looking fighting game on PS2 and one of the best looking games on PS2. You don't know shit

and wolfs howling = Zelda rip off? Ok...

Does anyone else think the first picture looks like Michael Jackson? :lol

Otherwise, those are awesome screen captures.

The shots look great, but not like anything the PS2 Tekken 5 engine couldn't do. I never did see any viable confirmation/comparisons of a visual downgrade between T5 arcade and PS2 - it seemed Namco built the game with PS2 in mind, the arcade system being faster or not.

Personally, I still theorize T5:DR is going to get a PS2 release if PS3 gets delayed any in worldwide launch.

Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection

A hopeless and feeble effort to counter the imminent and overwhelming supereriority of VF5.

It's almost inevitable that a PS2 port is going to be released.
If it does, you think SCEA will force a budget price like with VF4 Evo?

Actually, I think this would make a nice 360 release. :)

You're right, the poor 6 year old PS2 hardware just can't compete with a very recent nVidia graphics card (which, of course, is powering Lindbergh). If it did, there would be something VERY VERY wrong...

Lindbergh = NVidia? WTF?

this isn't Ps2, its system 256 which basically an upgraded PS2 :P probably arcade exclusive.

Tekken 5 was on system 258 as well, and the PS2 port is virtually identical. You're the one who doesn't shit. :P

What I meant was when Namco upgrades their arcade games they normally don't bring over that version to the consoles. I am sure they are preparing Tekken 6 or Tekken Tag 2 for PS3.

And Tekken 5 is System 258, both the arcade and the Ps2 version look very similar.

Tekken 4 was on System 246, which is identical to the PS2. Tekken 5 (and this one) is on System 258, which I think has a faster processor.

If it's anything like the jump from System 11 to System 12, it's a 1.5x faster chipset and double the RAM.

Whoops I meant to say Tekken 5. :P

I wasn’t speaking in technical terms. It’s probably strictly not “the poor 6 year old PS2 hardware” but the more recent overclocked System25X. I don’t know if you were trying to be funny with the nVidia powering Lindbergh thing, but it is in fact powered by IT’s Series 5.

IT's Series 5? What exactly is that? I do not, in fact, see it listed anywhere... :)

I don't get what looks so great. Low poly environments with blurry textures and crappy character models compared to a bunch of other fighting titles I've seen. The lighting doesn't seem very good, I don't see any shadows, and the style isn't very far from generic.

Whatever you guys like, though.

...you know you really do try TOO hard.... this shit doesn't come natural from you at all...

The only thing I'm trying too hard to do is understand how this looks "fantastic", even for the PS2.

you probably haven't played tekken 5. Seeing the game in person I can tell you that it's one of the best looking PS2 games, the moon field stage was amazing. PS2 screens always suck if they are not doctored and the games always look better in motion.

Actually your wrong. The system 256 is essentially a PS2 with an overclocked Emotion Engine. If you was to take apart the current Tekken 5 kit and compare it to the PS2 internals, you'll see nothing different.

So you also, the Tekken 5 shown at E3 last year was running on the system 246.

I really can't believe this happened on the one day I didn't check in at the B3D forums, then we had a computer failure at work. I guess it's not the end of the world, but I would have liked to have seen another dedicated arcade board from Sega. It might all still be an error on Famitsu's part (like the X360 stuff) but I'm not holding my breath. At the end of the day, VF5 is all I'm really after.
