Highlights:
Sideways leads Film Nominations with 7, including Best Picture, Musical or Comedy.

Desperate Housewives gets 4 Acting Nominations to go with its nomination for Best Comedy: 3 for Best Actress and one completely undeserved one for Supporting Actress.

Lost and 24 are nominated for Best Drama series, but neither receive acting nominations; not even for Kiefer.

The Aviator receives nominations for its two "leads", Leondardo deCaprio (Best Actor) and Cate Blanchett (Best Supporting Actress) as well as nominations for Direction and Best Picture, Drama.

The Incredibles is the animated film of choice, as it makes the cut in Best Picture, Comedy or Musical, over its chief rival, Shrek 2. Suck it down, Dreamworks.

The Hollywood Foreign Press has definitely boosted, not killed, the oscar hopes for Uma Thurman and David Carradine, as both receive nominations for Kill Bill Vol. 2.

Although the lifetime achievement award is usually a "fast forward" event for most, this year has promise, as Robin Williams is receiving the Cecil B. Demille award.

As usual, the nominations don't show how fucked up the Hollywood Foreign Press is, the winners do. So, expect some really, really shitty winners coming out of these categories.

What the fuck is the hollywood foreign press, anyway?

A series of random ass European journalists who remain a mystery to all but the Hollywood Foreign Press that have no real legitimacy and whose soul purpose is to award useless trophie and help predict the Oscar Nominations.

In what possible way can Jamie Foxx's character in Collateral be placed as a supporting character? I bet he had more lines than Cruise.

No longer boycotting the Wolfenstein franchise
Haha, Garden State puts Braff on the mainstream map and suddenly he's worthy of a nomination. These awards are such jokes.

"Ray" is a comedy? Or is it a musical? I must have missed something between the drug addiction and "rip off the blind man" subplots.

What's the deal with grouping Musicals and Comedies together anyway? That really doesn't make any fucking sense.

It's really the "Let's lump everything not a drama into one category"...category.

It's one of the ways the Golden Globes tries to be different than the Oscars.

Where is the Passion of Christ? Nothing!

It released in February...the only movie from early this year getting much press still is Eternal Sunshine...the rest are being left in the dust by newer films.

I think being the highest earning movie of the year at the box office and at retail more then makes up for missing out on a few metal balls.

Not that I even give a shit about Shrek 2 mind you, but the Pixar fanboys that constantly take shots at it for no good reason gets on my fucking nerves.

Wanna know my shot at it? On second viewing, it has no story and the jokes have already gotten old.

It's a fun little film, yes, but in terms of filmmaking it pales in comparison; I consider that a good reason to take pot shots at it, personally.

Million Dollar Baby looks SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO awful. How the hell did it get so many nominations?

Actually, is it even playing yet? How did it get nominations at all? How can you nominate stuff that isn't out yet?

I didn't watch it at all, cause I could tell neither movie was gonna appeal to me. The problem I see with Pixar fanboys that shit on Dreamworks is that they take Shrek 2's success personally, which I simply don't get. If Pixar's movies were bombing like Hiroshima then it'd be one thing, but I don't think they're crying too much about their earnings either. So it basically comes down to fanboys desperately wanting their movie to be #1, as if there's a crown to win for the movie that attains it. It's just stupid.

First off, the press are able to see films early, thus being able to review films. This is why major press publications like Variety and Hollywood Reporter are already posting reviews for films coming out at the end of the month, since they are being screened for Oscar/Golden Globes.

In this specific case? It's the Hollywood Foreign Press. We don't know who these people ARE (They're a secret), let alone if they've seen all of these films.

My comment was more directed at Dreamworks' flooding of the market with 3D Animation, which will be three computer animated films in one year after Madagascar is released. Shrek 2 released at a great time, garnered a whole lot of cash...but in terms of awards, The Incredibles fared much better with critics, as I believe it should have. Quality>Quantity, and Pixar is better then Dreamworks...if they had not been fucktards and released the Shrek/Shrek 2 DVD Box Set in Widescreen instead of Fullscreen ONLY, I would have given them my $50 this Holiday season, so it's not like I hate them or anything.

Lead Actor -- Drama Series

Michael Chiklis, "The Shield," FX
Denis Leary, "Rescue Me," FX
Julian McMahon, "Nip/Tuck," FX
Ian McShane, "Deadwood," HBO
James Spader, "Boston Legal," ABC

Ian McShane deserves to win this

I hope Nip Tuck wins best show ! Tthe 2nd season blew anything else currently on TV. Not to mention the final episode as a ratings success even beating out the all time record for FX which was held by The Shield.

And Julian taking out Best Actor.

How the fuck could the best drama on television not receive ANY nominations? Is it just me or is The Wire the most criminally underrated series in the history of this medium? WHAT THE FUG? Was not last night's episode brilliantly Shakespearean? It ended with the single most powerful death of a main character I ever witnessed.

WTF Eternal Sunshine of a Spotless Mind a comedy!?! Maybe I watched a different movie o.0...

As history shows, it was easier to get Jim Carrey his nomination in a comedy category than in drama, thus building the film's profile enough to get it the Comedy nomination.

Same thing with Adaptation, really. Kaufman's work can be classed only as "WTF" for most people, so drama/comedy is a tossup.

All I have to say is Pimp to the Hollywood Foreign Press for the nominations for Sideways and Closer. Awesome movies. And UBER-PIMP for the nomination of Clive Owen. The guy is so underrated it is a travesty to humanity.
