If you're only staying for a week, I recommend doing the following things in Tokyo:

Visit:
Roppongi Hills
Akihabara
Shibuya
Shinjuku
Harajuku
Asakusa
Odaiba

See:
The NHK Building
The Meiji Jingu
The Asakusa Shrine
Tokyo Tower

Do:
A hole-in-the-wall ramen/sushi/okonomiyaki/yakitori shop
Find a karaoke bar like Big Echo or Shidax, get a room, and then corral drunk Japanese people into it.
Ride the most efficient trains in the world.

well, in 24 hours I'll be boarding the plane.. sending off PMs to a few of you in a little bit to see if you want to hook up. so far I haven't gotten a lot of info from you guys on places to see so it looks like there will be a handful of places to see and visit but mostly just a bunch of partying and eating.. lol..

Man, I'm sorry I missed this thread! Late to the par-tay, as it were.

A few things worth mentioning:

tetsuo - as DC said, there are tons of brands of condoms in Japan. Sometimes when you talk you tend to speak really authoritatively, but in actuality, you're wrong -- this is a bad habit and one you should break ASAP :) (friendly advice, don't take it personal)

jonny - I have to agree that Japanese do not sweat as much as Westerners do. That's not to say they don't sweat at all -- BUT -- even when they do sweat, they generally don't stink, which has a lot to do with their diets. (BTW, I take showers every day too -- do you British folk do the fortnight thing, or...? :D)

bebpo - we used to have trash cans everywhere! then some asshole left a bomb in one. japan likes to overreact to these situations, you see. thus, you no longer find trash cans ANYWHERE (sigh...)

borghe - I know you're already here, but, if you see this -- I hope you have a good time in Japan!!

And even i am moderately surprised
i met Borghe and his friend on saturday and had a great time. My run of meeting great GAF'ers continues! ;)

We went to an arcade and tried to win a game of Tekken in Aki... things didn't turn out too great! :D

I'll update my blog with pics and comments tomorrow night! :)
