Just finished watching it and i thought it was a long, but touching story - but usually they go hand in hand.

Great movie, with a great performance by leo. Did he get any nominations for his role and eccentric billionaire hypchondriac?

Show your love.

I really enjoyed the movie; moreso than I enjoyed Gangs of New York when it first came out, and it really was one of the top three or four films of the year. (I'd argue Eternal Sunshine and Garden State, really, but the latter went unnoticed nom wise and Carrey films are shunned by the Oscar voters). Aviator lost out on most of their noms to Million Dollar Baby, but I guess that's to be expected - MDB was that good, if barely better. Leo did a fine job but lost out to Jamie Foxx (Ray). Not completely sure I agree, but that's how it goes.

Time to spoil the party.

Too fucking long. I felt asleep in the middle and woke up on the interesting parts later, my GF of course stayed awake the whole movie because CAPRIO was there.

The parts I liked: the beginnig where he faced all kinds of problems whenn shooting his movie, before he "made it" and was famous.
The part where he got pretty crazy and wouldn't come out of that room in the theather. Imagine the stink in that room from all those piss bottles!
The ending when he owned pretty much everyone in the court.

The middle parts where mostly boring - I'm not into
romances, reminded me of Titanic (another borefest).

But boy, that guy had a passion and DiCaprio played it superb. The crash was pretty shocking and realistic.

Eitherway - too fucking long.

Im starting to believe that long movies are better movies as they allow you to become much more absorbed into the story withouth rushing anything.

Looking at some of my fav movies of recent time: Titanic (thats right), Forest Gump, Fight Club, LoTR (extended versions), Saving Private Ryan, A Beautiful Mind, Catch me if you can and Troy, i definately do not mind the length.

Although i will admit i did lose track of all those women.

I remember having to urinate very badly, but I was really enjoying the movie so I didn't want to leave. Then came the scene where he fills the bottles with his urine. I'm convinced Scorsese filmed that for me. I gave him the finger.

It had some very powerful scenes. I liked it.

This is the only Scorsese movie that I have no desire to see again. It was professionally made and it had some strong visual images, but the pacing was shot to hell, and I didn't like John "Star Trek: Nemesis" Logan's screenplay.

I saw it and can appreciate it for what it is... but I have no will to see this again. Pretty boring. Though I do think that the bright spot, for me, was watching Cate Blanchett play her role soooo well. I mean, by the end of it, you'd almost think she really WAS katherine hepburn. Laugh and everything was perfect. This was the acting equivalent to Jamie Foxx pulling off Ray Charles.

Although, the movie itself was pretty boring to me. I really cannot relate to a millionaire playboy suffering from OCD and porking moviestars in the process. Not that I can relate to most movies, but most movies actually make me give a damn about their characters. Not in this one, which is another big disappointment because I love Scorcese. I just couldn't bring myself to really CARE about what happens throughout the movie.

Best part, however, was when he testified before Alan Alda, and Alda tried to go all West Wing on his ass. But Leo bitchslapped that motherfucker and sent him packing.

I think it was a good film, with strong performances...although I think Blanchett seemed to be too at ease with the role. It was fantastic...but it seemed so simple that it was as if she wasn't acting, and I think that there were better performances from the perspective of throwing emotion into a role.

Leo was fantastic in the film, Alan Alda's Oscar nomination was the stupidest thing ever, and overall it just felt like a good film. I didn't think it was in any way fantastic or superb on any level other than acting. It was directed well, it was acted well, it was designed well...it just didn't seem to do anything above and beyond.

Which is really odd, since she was playing Katharine Hepburn.

This movie is excellent and is a testement to large scale, grand film making. Of course, I guess that's expected from Scorcese. The acting is also superb. Great flick all around. The DVD is amazing as well, it's loaded to the brim with all sorts of featrettes on pretty much every aspect of film making there is. A must own for film buffs.
