Nonsense...behold the national bird of England..

""

The shoplifting seagull, sums the country up to perfection

I love seagulls. They have personality.

I'd probably pick the house sparrow as the national bird of England. It might be common and look boring, but Sparrows are hyper aggressive birds that always love a scrap, which is why they're one.of the most successful birds on Earth.

When you hear the males sing in the morning, this isn't just a pleasing sound they make. By singing, the male sparrows are broadcasting their presence and strength to other males, signaling that they've survived the night and are still defending their territory. They're basically waking up and screaming "come and have a go if you think you're hard enough!"

What better bird to represent the nation that gave the world bare knuckle boxing, Rugby and football hooliganism.

If I could be an animal for a day I would pick Bald Eagle.

On the day after a huge snow while living in Hudson Valley I was laying out in the yard looking up into the clear blue sky and spotted two bald eagles flying so high they were tiny dots. Never seen a bird flying so high before. It was an image that sticks with me: Cold snow, light breeze, blue cloudless sky, bright sun warming my face and two bald eagles flying past.

The use of an eagle to symbolize the state dates back to the Roman Empire. A lot of the symbolism used by the Founding Fathers is based on the Romans because everyone wants to be the next Roman Empire
Where is the quote on this? Most founders wanted the US to not entangle themselves in other countries business and treaties.

They actually warned against becoming an empire.
