I had no doubt this was going to be special!!!

Sounds like if David Fincher made a superhero flick. In other words, sounds incredible.

Reminds me of how Joker was straight up Taxi Driver or how Logan was a western mishmash. Its cool to see these flicks remixing these templates with comic characters. We gonna get a Terrence Malick Superman one day lol

Relieved to see numerous decent reviews coming in after the po-faced nonces at The Guardian & Times thrashed it.

So… pretty damn good film, but not at all challenging The Dark Knight for the top spot. Fair enough.

Disappointed by what they’re saying about the third act. Seeing tomorrow though, so will make my own mind up.

After what’s come out in the last few years, it’s nice to finally have a superhero film that doesn’t rely on lazy corporate fan service, forced humor and tells an original story with a talented writer/director who knows how to use the camera. Looking forward to this.

Just took my kid to see spiderman yesterday. He didnt' look enthused about this one and it's probably too violent for him anyway so imma have to see this one myself.

I've been hearing the OST, and it has some straight-up horror film tracks in there. Fantastic stuff.

Check this one out.

Listening to the soundtrack now ...

The outright theft of Chopin's Funeral March as a central "theme" is driving me up the wall. Are we so far removed from musical history that the general public is not going to notice this? It's such a weird choice to me.

Yeah, I wished for a different hook as well but nothing new and has been done since forever. The most famous one being Star Wars' Imperial March and countless media have had it:

While I expected something different and unique like the Doctor Strange theme from Giacchino, the main part of the Batman theme is quite cool:

I knew this was being made, but all hype seemed to have gone completely under my radar.

I‘m all for a good new Batman movie so I will catch this.

Reviews mean nothing to me...I have been duped so many times by the hype machine...
What I find exciting however is the comments reporting that the movie feels like a thriller ala Zodiac. I have always hoped for Batman to be portrayed as the highly intelligent detective he is, conducting his vigilante business using his brains before his gadgets and physical prowess, and this adaptation might finally be it...
Plus, from the little snippets I have seen, Colin Farrell could very well get nominated for some prize for his performance as the Pinguin...

I was surprised to see this movie receive as much online skepticism as Joker. When did the world turn on Batman?

Oh well, he's finally here and I'm betting most of the people who were crapping on this film will now see it.

I know it's not a huge deal but I was hoping this would stick to the 90's. I'm a massive fan of Matt Reeves Planet of the Apes so my expectations were/are pretty high.

Performances were emotional and raw in The Batman, but you're gonna get a very broody Batman that never smiles. The Batman is not kid friendly for younger ones.

"The Batman" certainly mirrors the dismal state of the world today. Any breaks from that dreariness will have to come at a different bat time on a different bat channel.

Depressing, dark and endless. I don’t know about you, but this particular time in history does not seem like the moment for a movie that will leave you a) miserable and b) wondering why nobody in Gotham City seems to have heard of light bulbs.

The Batman emerges from a movie universe, now becoming ubiquitous, where a phony funereal worldview is the only thing that can confer depth.

Some of these reviewers have a pole stuck so far up their ass its unbelievable. What the fuck were these people expecting?

I'm sure Matt Reeves will take the opinion of the *checks notes* Seattle Times and Detroit News to heart.

First review in opening post is so soylent.

"OMG THEY FINALLY PORTRAYED BATMAN RIGHT EVEN THOUGH THEY'VE DONE THAT SEVERAL TIMES IN MEDIA PRIOR."

An eternal character with different interpretations. It'll be good regardless.

I think you completely missed the point, and I think you did it on purpose. So edgy, edgelord.
