The Big Lebowski (first time watching it since it’s initial release)

So I remember thinking it was a great movie and really hating Walter (John Goodman) character. Think he was just a crazy guy. After watching it as an older man, I think Walter might be the only fucking sane character in the movie.

Sure, the Dude is likable and fun, but just a little too chill.

Movie does hold up very well, nearly 30 years after its release.

I just watched it for the first time recently too! But it was my actual first time seeing it.

It's so damn good. It was nice to save a classic 90s comedy for now.

One of the all time greats. I watch it at least once per year and still find it gold.

This scene in particular is one of the funniest moments I think I've ever laughed at in a movie.

Great movie. John Goodman is a treasure and deserves more praise for his career.
I want to say he's underrated, but how can that be when he's done so much and worked with so many. The man is beloved. He's done what few can. Started off as a super beloved tv character, then killed it in countless roles on both big and small screen. And he's not just "John Goodman" in every role. That's something that Jack Nicoleson has had a hard time with, imo. He seems like "Jack" in everything. Even his Joker was Jack, as the Joker.

I don't think underrated is the right term for it either. It's just a pleasure to see his approach to any given role, big or small.

I was especially impressed with his performance in 10 Cloverfield Lane. The movie itself isn't anything to write home about, but Goodman's role is so deeply unsettling, and the acting is just incredible. I keep coming back to that movie, just for the tension he creates.

Classic! My favorite scene is when they're shoving his head in the toilet then when they pull him up and ask him where the money is his response is hilarious! "It's down there somewhere, let me take another look."

It's a movie that gets better for me on every rewatch.
I first watched it as a late teen and thought it was nonsensical shit.
I think it clicked on the third watch, several years later. I love it now. Every actor just kills it.
Of course the ashes scene was always funny.
