JRPGs have come a long way

43:52 - The 16-bit era
1:12:48 - 5th console gen
1:48:11 - 6th console gen
2:08:59 - The HD era
2:31:33 - The Modern era

Long vid but been nice to scroll through it and see how the genre has developed.

This year has been crazy for high quality and ambitious JRPG's as he points out at the end.

It’s amazing to see how far JRPGs have come and how each era has added something unique to the genre. Scrolling through the different sections of the video, it’s clear how the gameplay mechanics, storytelling, and visual style evolved. Each generation built on the last one, from the simple but classic mechanics of the 8-bit era to the cinematic experiences we’re seeing now.

And yeah, this year has been especially good for JRPGs. It feels like developers are blending old-school elements with innovations in a satisfying way. Are there any titles from this year that stood out to you? Or maybe favourites from past eras that still hold up for you?

for me, JRPG is the best kind of RPG even though most of them limited to not to roleplaying in stories. the gameplay wise is always better. I might already used 40-50% of my entire gaming life, swimming in the JRPG more than other genres.
