I hope it will start this season with a bang.

so no more RBR-Duct speculation?

my guess would be it's a sort of passive F-Duct that blows at low speeds on (maybe) the huge underflow thingie they have going, to increase downforce, and "closes" on high speed to reduce drag

I permanently banned my 6 year old daughter from using the PS4 for mistakenly sending grief reports as it's too hard to watch or talk to her

According to ScarbsF1 earlier it's just a device to reduce turbulance caused by the step on the nose, and is not a duct as such and has no extra underflow benefits whatsoever as doing so would infringe on 2012's aero rules. .

The pic of the STR has VW sponsership on the wall, kinda weird considering its running a ferrari engine, yet no acknowledgement from STR. Maybe i'm just looking into it too much. RB8 looks nice though

Frankly the only way iam going to except the stupid step in the nose is if they glue a pair of googly eyes to the sloped section and draw a mouth underneath.

Raikkonen pinches his former race engineer from Mercedes

Raikkonen will start working together with his engineer at Barcelona at the last test before Melbourne. “I wanted him and I am pleased that it worked out,” Raikkonen confirmed.

In other news, Eric Boullier has denied rumours Raikkonen is a shareholder in the Lotus team. It was reported that the 2007 world champion’s retainer this year was subsidised by owner Genii granting the returning F1 driver a small slice of the Enstone based team.

“He has no shareholding. It is complete nonsense,” Boullier is quoted by MTV3.

“Raikkonen has a two-year contract as driver,” he added. “Genii Capital holds 100 per cent of the team.”

I say this in complete ignorance as to how much PDVSA are tipping in, but the apparent lack of top-level sponsorship on the FW34 is saddening. Fingers crossed that Williams are doing okay, would love to see them competitive once again.

Williams doesnt look too bad with the stepped nose. The livery works well with it compared to other cars.

What sites are people using the follow testing?

EDIT: F1fanatic & sky sports live commentry is blocked at work :(

08:29 Rosberg is also on the circuit, but is coming through the pits at the end of every lap.

I wonder why do they even bother?! We need close-up pics to see if they're testing new components

08:30 Raikkonen improves to 1m20.514s, a new best of the morning.

Nice.. any timings from last year to compare?

Fastest time for Day 1 of testing last year was 1:20.709 by Massa!

EDIT: fastest overall for the first 4 days in jerez was Barrichello - Williams - 1:19.832

That won't stop me from getting excited :p

I don't think teams will do so much sandbagging as they need to test their new cars properly. So many changes since last year

FOM are so completely useless. Any other management group on the planet would have an official live timing feed for testing. They can't possibly not realise how much interest there is in testing?

We almost didn't get HD in 2011.. TWO THOUSAND AND ELEVEN!! so what do you expect?

Ferrari are straight in with thier Flow viz paint apparently. Are they worried already?

Normally they do a few runs first :p

Lap times still not comparable, as the tires will greatly differ from last years, I expect.

What I was at is that Williams was on top, not the timings. But I agree on the timings, no blown diffuser, change of body work, tyres..etc

1 Raikkonen Lotus 1m20.514s
2 Kobayashi Sauber 1m22.112s +1.598
3 Massa Ferrari 1m24.423s +3.909
4 Rosberg Mercedes 1m41.939s +21.425

All timing unofficial. Updated: 08:48 GMT

I'll enjoy this sheet while it lasts.. don't think we'll see anything close to that during the season :(
