The Fountain - Graphic Novel

Currently polling second in Australia's federal election (first in the Gold Coast), this feral may one day be your Bogan King.
Besides Aronofsky being my favourite modern director (π, Requiem for a Dream, The Fountain, The Wrestler), The Fountain is probably my favourite film of all time. I love all the themes, the acting, the script, the cinematography, the pacing, the score, everything.

I finally went out and picked up the graphic novel. Wow. It's pretty damn amazing and a really solid collectors piece for fans. The artwork is magnificent, focusing on paint and pencil mediums rather than computer generated stuff. You can really make out the lines and tones of paint work. Story alterations are also great, understandably, as its intentions to be the same story told differently hit the mark.

I only know one or two people in my day-to-day life that really love the film as much as I do, so I'm mostly posting it to hear from other fans here, or at least what people thought of the GN.

More pics at request. If anyone hasn't seen the film I highly recommend it. Just don't watch it as 'filler' or with anyone else in the room. Make it something just for you.

Film is definitely in my top whatever list, but the art in those pictures looks so cheesy. :lol

Really a great fucking movie. Will definitely check out the graphic novel (didn't even know one existed).

The GN is largely based around Aronofsky's original story, the one that was eventually scrapped by the studio. He went back and rewrote the film as lower budget and more indie, which is The Fountain that we got, and the original plot took the form of the GN.

They are supposed to compliment one another. Same premise, same themes, just a bit different tellings of the story.

I thought the movie should of went for the visual effect that the graphic novel had of tommy and izzzy merging together at the end shown on the cover.

The soundtrack is still my favorite score. Clint Mansell is amazing. "Death is the road to awe" never gets old.

Wow, no haters have shown up yet? Awesome!

I love the shit out of The Fountain. Book does look a little cheesy art-wise (I agree, Jtwo), but I'm interested in it nonetheless. Thanks for the heads-up.

I loved it as well. It gets a lot of hate but I thought it was a very powerful movie.
That graphic novel doesn't look that great though to be honest.

I'd bought a copy of the graphic novel before the movie came out because it seemed like it might make a nice little suplement, but later remembered I didn't even like comics and sold it without ever doing much more than flipping through it briefly.

There are a lot of haters on the Fountain. But wow might have to pick this up. Just watched the movie on HD DVD the other day actually. Sometimes I can't finish the movie because the ending is so intense!

I love the movie dearly, but I must admit I wonder what the Brad Pitt/Cate Blanchett/larger budget version would have been like.

Who knows? But I'm not phased as The Fountain turned out brilliantly. Pitt is great, but I can't really imagine the same film without Jackman. He is Tommy.

Maaaaannnn, Hugh Jackson and Rachel Weisz so made this movie <3

I've also got this movie on BD. Its perfect. I also want this graphic novel.

Liked the movie but what little I read of the GN (I own the thing) struck me as kind of amateurish, both in script and artwork.

I should power through it one of these days.
