The Game Awards 2024 Nominees will be revealed November 18th

Astro Bot and Final Fantasy Rebirth are easily the GOTY candidates in my opinion.

I haven't played Metaphor yet, but will at some point.

If this award show is fair, the games deserving to be nominated for game of the year are:
1. FF7 rebirth
2. Astrobot
3.Wukong
4. Stellar Blade
5. Metaphor
6. Silent Hill 2 remake

Gonna be tough this year.......im sure Silent Hill 2 and Metaphor Refantazio will be on the list and either of them would be a great choice!

Geoff needs to fix some categories, some of them make little sense, and he needs to give some awards more respect! Don't announce best soundtrack and best RPG as a sideshow in 2 secs, thats disrespectful to actual talented people and its annoying for fans of these genres/things.

I'll bet on Final Fantasy Rebirth to get the most nominations but i think Astro Bot is taking away the big one.

Silent hill 2 remake deserves it but it'll go to wu Kong it seems due to the technicality of SH2R is a remake.

I never watch this show and don't even care who gets top award. Its just one giant marketing scheme set up as an event to release new trailers.

True. However, I had a blast watching the live performances at the last one and would have never known No Rest For the Wicked existed otherwise. So I still found it entertaining and informative.

Space Marine 2
Rebirth
Stellar Blade

As my top 3.

The award could pick anything they want since it won't make me view games I don't like as any better or games I like as any worse.

If Stellar Blade doesn't get a GotY nomination, I wouldn't consider that a snub. It's in my personal Top 3, but there were plenty of higher quality games that came out this year. Much as I love the game, it was really held back by it's bad dialogue, voice acting, story, and side quest design. The game was carried hard by it's excellent combat and soundtrack.

That said it deserves a nomination for Best Soundtrack and Action Game. If it doesn't get nominated for either of those, then yeah that'd be bullshit.

Last year was a CRPG, maybe this year they could do the same for a JRPG.

It's been a great year for those with many quality releases, so I'd say the genre deserves some attention. Not just that but 3 (three!) of them feature Jack Frost from the SMT series. What else could you ask for?

Astro Bot
Black Myth
Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth
Helldivers 2
Metaphor Rehashstatico
Silent Hill 2

Kinda low energy year. Dragon's Dogma and Dragon Age disappointed, Yakuza Infinity pleased its fans, but it's a niche franchise, and it's disconcerting how much of the lineup was remakes and remasters.

Astrobot, FFVII Rebirth, Metaphor: ReFantazio for sure for GotY.

After that I'm not really sure.

Silent Hill 2 was a pleasant surprise. I think Black Myth should be nominated just because of the work that studio did and it's str via word of mouth.

Persona 3 remake maybe, but again it's a remake, and Atlus has their representative in Metaphor.

Zelda, Prince of Persia, Tekken 8, and Space Marine 2 are also really fun but I don't think they win compared to the first 3 or other games I put above them.

FF7 rebirth is quite meh to be honest and ended with a whimper that left hardcore fans upset and casuals confused. The game didn't sell that well on top of that so less people know the game. I don't know why people seem convinced that FF7 rebirth will win when we have games like metaphor, black myth, helldivers 2, space marine 2, indiana jones(possible nominee if it's amazing?) and astrobot. Stellar blade was meh as well with a forgettable story, poor dialogue and the environments were stale, so it's highly unlikely that the game will win.

Fuck this shit. GAF game awards is the only thing that matters.

And the game of the year is clearly Concord, and im not even joking. Landmark title in so many ways. It transcends genres.

It's funny how we all know DEIguard is at least going to appear somewhere like in RPG category or whatever, which IMO is going to be an even bigger joke considering how many good Japanese, Chinese and Korean RPGs have been this year.

Dragon Age winning would be a VGA disaster.
It will most likely gain a spot in the best RPG nominations, otherwise the whole category would be dominated by JRPGs, they want to show variety in their category even if the game doesn't deserve its spot.
But yeah its 100% not winning, a lot of people are backtracking on the game, even IGN wrote an article talking about its missteps, a lot of unhinged twitter users that championed the game are turning on it now calling it mediocre.
Its definitely not winning like actual zero chance. it will not even get nominated for GOTY.

Thats a solid point and it may become true, but Astro Bot is a platformer and they only awarded that 1 award which is It Takes Two, i think they may want to change from RPG to Platformer, to you its JRPG, to them its all RPG (all the same) so they won't see it as a JRPG win, instead it will be another RPG win.
Whatever wins its definitely between those three, Metaphor, Rebirth and Astro Bot.

The reason i think its Astro Bot is also because of Sony legacy, it has all those reference to its gaming history which can play on the same feeling as Rebirth does with nostalgia.
Metaphor might be too anime for them, i know it has high scores but its more niche, it has less review count than both Rebirth and Astro Bot.
However Metaphor has that multiplatform release so idk, you can say that Rebirth and Astro split votes from Playstation fan sites/outlets and this can help Metaphor secure a W
Its definitely an interesting race though, im sure this year we will not have a 5/5 awards winner like last year, there will be split between them.
