The gaming nostalgia thread.

IDKFA

I am Become Bilbo Baggins
A thread to post any nostalgic gaming videos. Interviews, news reports, TV adverts etc etc.

I'll start with this one. A UK (was it BBC?) news report on the launch of the N64 and the three way battle between Sony, Sega and Nintendo.

One crazy piece of information about this video is that Sony knocked £70 off the cost of the PS1 to combat the N64. You could pick up the console for £129.

Fast forward to today and we have Sony and Microsoft increasing the cost of their consoles!

Bonus video. Goldeneye TV ad

Love the fan translations recreating original Japanese commercials to commemorate their launch.

Its a crime to play this game on a emulator without a CRT shader and uploaded it to YouTube with that pixelated look. The game was supposed to be played on a CRT. In Retroarch, you can use a CRT preset by Retro Crisis to get the CRT look on a modern display.

iPlaySega videos are captured off real systems (though I can't say I'm a fan of his post processing, whatever, great videos regardless), if you capture the video the system sends out it obviously won't have the resulting CRT effects that come after the fact, that doesn't make it emulation. Stay on topic.

Its 1080p so its obviously emulated.

Videos and images can be upscaled, it has nothing to do with the system's internal or even output video resolution. I already mentioned the post processing. I didn't want to post random CRT gameplay but a nice montage. Stop derailing this with your ignorance, post something you like instead🤦‍♂️

Real hardware capture too, yet 4K, yet it obviously wasn't a game/system rendering/outputting native 4K and the 4K video is just uploaded to retain maximum quality after all the youtube processing. Same for the framerate, the video being 60fps but the game is clearly 30. What satanic magic..!
