It looks a hell of a lot better than The A-Team and more Narc-ish. I'm down.

Well, the A-Team was fucking awesome and the most entertaining blockbuster last summer, so I guess this will be straight up epic then.

I was waiting for you or beelz to comment, glad you came through. I had a little fun with The A-Team, but have had zero desire to ever revisit it.

And the Unrated extended cut is even better.

One of the best scripts I've ever read. Cannot wait to see this in completion.

FYI, Christian Bale was initially attached to the main role (now played by Liam Neeson) and would've made the movie infinitely more badass.

Joe Carnahan slipped up with Smokin' Aces but A-Team was obviously the best summer blockbuster of that year. This looks more like Narc and that can't be a bad thing.

lol no

Neeson is ten times the man Bale is

He phoned it in with Unknown but I still like the guy. Christian Bale would have gone the extra distance with the weight loss but Neeson is a good cast.

Retarded. What are rogue wolves? Formerly legit wolves that have left the reservation, hiding out from their former CIA bosses, and predating upon hapless animal citizens? What the hell? Boo this movie. I mean..the beer bottle punchy thing is cool, but seriously. Do we really need a movie about some dude killing wolves?

(came in expecting an alien movie)

Wolves that got separated from their pack and are cold and starving as well! Man vs wolf!

With the death of his wife, you got to wonder if that dialog over the trailer at the very beginning was really from the heart.

Not sure if I'll go see this though. Liam Neeson is my favorite actor, but survival films and me don't go together.

Yeah but Neeson gives some pretty boring performances these days.

He just phones it in.
Yeah... he's sorta been coasting on being a 'badass' since Taken, at least in his mainstream films. Some of this teaser looks like it could go that way, but I'm hoping that's just marketing.

It doesn't get more badass than Liam these days, sorry.

Better to phone it in than do whatever it is Bale does in Terminator and TDK I suppose

He has had some other different roles. He was a professor in Chloe. Julianne Moore got fingerbanged in that one by amanda seyfried

That's why I specified mainstream roles. I liked Chloe, but Neeson didn't have much to do in it.

My god.. I can't stand this guy. Taken and Unknown were sooooo shitty

Unknown wasn't that great, but really? You can't stand Liam Neeson? He's brilliant and has a huge penis.

Put him in the next bond movie.

Craig vs Neeson

I'd actually really love to see this. I was always annoyed that Christopher Lee was utilized so poorly in the Bond series (much like in Star Wars), and I'd love to see Liam Neeson as a truly great Bond villain for a new generation.

That has got to be sarcasm. A movie that uses an obvious shot of Koln and calls it Frankfurt then does all of the Frankfurt photography in barely disguised Vancouver is piss poor. Every sequence was overwrought and stuffed with brutal artifice. It is a perfect example of what is wrong with movies.

That sounds pretty damn awesome. I'd love to see Neeson as a Bond villain. And The Grey looks like it could be a solid movie.

Wolves fascinate me too, glad they're in the movie.

There's some strong Oscar buzz surrounding Neeson's performance (check Google), Open Road could push for it to be out in December in limited release for Neeson to be eligible. Definitely looks exciting!

a test screening impressions from the director himself! (and another, with new stills in the mix)

@carnojoe:
Had a pretty incredible screening at the Soho House last night. Movie plays. No question it's my best film. I love Narc. The Grey is better.

JoBlo:

Just wanted to drop you guys a line and share my reaction to Joe Carnahan's THE GREY. First off, this is easily Joe Carnahan's best film. I've seen all his work in theaters but nothing grabbed me like this. I'll admit, it was the idea of Liam Neeson battling wolves that got me initially hooked, and that's actually the film's only HUGE problem, but more on that in a bit.

What impressed me was the level of depth that (some) of the characters get. This could've very easily been a B movie slasher flick with a killer picking them off one by one type thing but it's not. It's not as elevated as ALIEN in that sense but it's close. You feel for Neeson and most of his crew through- -out the picture and they all get their moment to shine with a heartfelt scene (or two).

I saw the trailer before Ides of March, and I honestly can't stop laughing at the idea of Neeson punching wolves in the throat to get back his daughter. In other words, this looks like a ridiculously stupid movie. I'm supposed to feel suspense about a pack of weak ass wolves? Please.

You're trying really hard to discredit Bale as an actor and...well, it's not working for you. Terminator? That's the best you have? A crappy movie with a crappy script! Surely that's the actor's fault. And TDK was a good movie with good performances even if you didn't like it
