The Grudge trailer (Sarah Michelle Gellar)

Link works for me.

I swear the original is the most overrated film I've seen this year, but at least this remake is pretty faithfull. It looks exactly like the original, shot for shot.

GOD! That fucking pisses me off. That's nearly identical to the fucking Japanese trailer. They spend millions making this into a shitty, over-produced, American Hollywood piece of garbage and have the BALLS to set it in Japan with American actresses? Get the fuck out.

EDIT: For clarification.

This pisses me off to no end because they could have subtitled the originals and brought them over giving all the credit to the original film-maker instead of flaunting Hollywood's creative bankruptcy with manufactured, bottom-of-the-barrel actors.

WHAT THE FUCK. WHY SARAH MICHELLE GELLER!?!!? Scooby-Doo, dammit! It'll only REALLY get me if this hits big. People are gonne say things like "You see The Grudge?" And I'll say things like "You see my fist in yo' face? WHAT UP!?" I swear this isn't one of those "I saw it first!" things. They re-made a remake, alright? How did this happen? The re-make is only 2 years old!

Reflecting upon this, though...The director is pretty creatively bankrupt himself. Ring and Juon and very similarly styled. Nothing scary really happens, just intensely creepy things creep around being creepy...Hrmm...

Originals. He re-made Juon to make the newer Juon which is now being re-made again. And I'm feeling ill so I'm extra irritable. My avatar is fitting right now.

Why remake a remake? Because nobody would see the original...or the original remake...in theaters. This movie can make money. A horror film in a language which nobody understands wouldn't sell.

Movies are a money making venture. That's just how it works.

I thought movies made their $$ on DVD? I feel like they dumb everything down for American cinema. I'm sure they do, in fact. They have to play to the lowest common denominator (those who can't read). It just gets to me that they're ruining something I liked so much. :(

well the movie have massive chances of flopping here because americans audiences will be like "HOLLA HOLLA OMFG ITS LIKE THE RING OMG GOM HOLLA THAT MOVIE SUCKS!! * cellphone goes off"

The whole theme with the ghost kid (female mostly) seems to be a very common thing in asian folklore. I mean i saw at least a dozen of those type of asian flicks (and some that pre-dated ringu) and they had Sadako/Samara-type characters or visions in theme. Anyone cares to go on with that theory and developped it?

Heh yeah, I have to give them props for actually being faithful to the original version, but imo the original material wasn't really that good to begin with. I'll still probably see the movie in theaters but damn, Juon did nothing for me

Yeah, I guess really pale women with long black hair covered in blood is supposed to be scary, but I find it a turn on myself.

Anyway, Japanese culture has always had a thing for women with really white faces, from ghost to geisha to kabuki.
